Danforth Fellows
APRIL 1969

Three Dartmouth seniors are among the 113 recipients of Danforth Fellowships selected this year from more than 1900 applicants. The Danforth Graduate Fellowship program was established in 1951 to provide encouragement and financial support to outstanding seniors and recent graduates who intend to pursue graduate study toward careers in college teaching.

The 1969 Danforth Fellowship recipients at Dartmouth, who will receive stipends renewable for four years, are: Joseph W. Serene III, a physics major from Indiana, Pa., who is active in the Glee Club and Players, and serves as president of Delta Kappa Epsilon; John A. Tall madge, a comparative literature major from East Orange, N. J., who is a former editor of Paroles, a director of the Ledyard Canoe Club, and a member of last year's G.E. College Bowl team; and Charles B. Trainor, an English major from Melrose, Mass., who taught in the Watts section of Los Angeles last year and was press secretary of the National Student Coalition for Humphrey-Muskie. In addition, Chester I. Palmer Jr., a mathematics major from Portland, Me., received honorable mention.
