The Dartmouth Glee Club concert in Scarsdale, N. Y., on March 1 was well attended by '36 most of whom enjoyed the hospitality of Norb and Pic Hofman beforehand for cocktails and dinner. There were a few white faces among the suntans acquired in the Caribbean, Art and Lenore Washerman had just returned from Puerto Rico; John and Helen Wiesman had vacationed in Antigua; Bob Prentice had visited Bermuda; Chuck and Mimi Sims had been island hopping. Jerri and I caught the fever and spent a week in early April in Puerto Rico at Dorado Beach. While the group gathered in Scarsdale, Jim and Kay Stephens were in Boca Raton, Fla., where Jim was attending a general insurance agents conference. After the meeting, they took off for Barbados and a few days vacation. In Springfield, Mass., in January Jim had announced that he was a candidate for reelection to the School Committee.

One of the most exciting trips of the winter was taken by Ken Wilson, Chairman of Avco Corp. He was one of 45 American businessmen invited by Time magazine on a Current News Tour of Asia. Of course, the focal point of the trip was Viet Name, Thev talked with Ambassador Bunker and President Thieu. They donned Army fatigues and took to the field to see our troops in action and talk with the Vietnamese people. The tour also included Bangkok, Thailand, where they pledged to build a $25,000 schoolhouse for the Thais. The itinerary took them to Manila, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, and Japan.

I am sure you read the profile of the Yankee Inn Keeper, Gene Tamburi, in the March issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE It was a fine and inspiring story about the owner of the Yankee Pedlar in Holyoke Mass., and our class host on more than one occasion. Gene is on the Board of Overseers for the Hanover Inn and was personally responsible for the furnishings of the lounges and functional rooms of the new Inn, as well as the Byble and Drum Room which is a classic nonpareil.

The February issue of the New Hampshire Medical Society Newsletter reported that Dr. Jesse M. Gait of Dover had been called back into service as president of the Society. This was the first time in 135 years that a former president has been recalled to that office. Jesse is also vice president of Blue Shield, Chairman of the State s Medical Advisory Committee and President of the Medical Education Foundation. He is one Georgia boy who really became a Yankee. Dr. and Anne Gait have two sons, Andrew who attends school in Dover and Second Lieut. John awaiting assignment at Fort Holabird, Md.

The sailors in our midst probably are scraping and painting boat bottoms or already have their craft m the water, in Fairfield, Conn., Don Robbins has been sailing all winter with the Frostbite Fleet of the Pequot Yacht Club. One race was sailed in blustery February weather with winds up to three knots. Don and his wife, Anne didn't desert skiing completely. In January they arranged a family ski weekend reunion at Magic Mountain in Vermont

in the Watts section of Los Angeles there have been no movie theatres up until March. At that time a new Watts Movie House was dedicated. It was a former supermarket smtted by fire in the riots. One of the guiding lights in promoting the new theatre was Budd Schulberg. This was an outgrowth of his Watts Writers Workshop which now has branches in Long Beach, Altadena, Pasadena, Seattle, San Francisco, and Washington, D. C.

The Dartmouth Club of Southern California of which Bob Morris is a director, sent a bulletin to the class secretaries announcing the formation of "The Friend Indeed Committee," a "responsive presence for the benefit of any alumnus or Dar family in that area who needs a helping hand.

The New Yorkers are Phil Gilbert of Ossming and his son, John, and Bob Blades of Hornell and his son, Bob.
