The summer is over, the Terrific Twenty- Fifth is history, the college generation has left us to our own peace and quiet (?), and a new Alumni Magazine year is with us. Welcome back with best wishes for a most happy and successful year!!

Vic Smith has been elected a vice-president of the Turner Construction Co. Operations manager of the Cincinnati office since 1968, Vic has been with Turner since 1947. He has served as superintendent on such projects as Western Electric and Westinghouse in Columbus, 0., The Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. and Convention Center in Cincinnati, and the Vivian Beaumont Theatre-Library-Museum in New York City’s Lincoln Center.

The Alumni Council at a recent meeting passed the following resolution “Resolved that the Alumni Council, wishing to express its gratitude on behalf of the College and all Dartmouth alumni, warmly thanks and heartily congratulates the Class of 1945, its president Eliot S. Rowan Jr., and class giving chairman Frank M Hutchins for their gift of $700,000 given by or on behalf of all class members during their first 25 years as alumni and symbolically presented to the College at the occasion of the 25th reunion.”

Ed Harte, Texas newspaper magnate and father, was quoted in the August 17 issue of “Time” in the article “How to educate your parents—When the young teach the old.” The article is most interesting and the personal angle with one of our own holding forth makes it even more worthwhile reading.
