As we come into November we scan again the birthday records noting Massachusetts as the homes of Herb Austin, Edgar Elkins,Raymond Foss, Sherman Saltmarch, and Henry Weber who has changed his base to the Veterans Hospital in Brockton. California claims Paul Brown and Vermont Gordon Piatt. To all a happy birthday.

Without resorting to collect phone calls in the pursuit of news I've just chatted with Fred and Louise Davidson in New Rochelle and found them delighted to report they have another grandson in Dartmouth, Peter Davidson '74 of Seattle, Wash., who follows his brother Kenneth's ('67) footsteps

Fred's particularly pleased as are all of us that Abe Newmark made such a splendid success of his first year as Class Agent racking up fourth place in the always close competition with the big ten of 1910-1919. That Abe hit 99.9% of the objective set he credits to the support all gave him.

Arthur Deering, his wife Mary, and Hugh McKinnon represented 1914 at the big Dartmouth dinner held in San Francisco last April 20. Art wrote that every class from 1913 to 1960 had members present to greet our president, John G. Kemeny. Of him Art says "everybody felt that Dartmouth has a knowledgable and able hand at the helm."

Ever busy Herb Austin now retiring from twelve years of distinguished advertising and editorial service on the "Wellesley Townsman" has accepted appointment as executive secretary of the Wellesley Chamber of Commerce.

Nor to Dr. Arthur S. Wheelock does retirement seem to have much meaning for from Cape Cod comes word that he has joined the co-ministry of the West Parish Congregational Church of West Barnstable, Mass., the oldest Congregational society in America. It was founded in London in 1616.

Speaking of Golden Weddings though the real date was October 20, 1920 three generations of Sleepers converged at the Hanover Inn from three states on October 4 for an all-Dartmouth observance. The patriarchs Gordon and Martha came from Newport, Vt., with their daughter Phyllis and her husband, Milton Hammond. From Larchmont, N. Y., Gordon Jr. '45 with EmiLou Sleeper with two sons were joined by a third son Gordon 111, now a sophomore in Dartmouth. From Westfield, Mass., a bare two weeks before leaving with his family for a three-year assignment as deputy commander of the U. S. Air Force Combat Support Base at Svesterberg in Holland came Drew '52 and Evelyn Sleeper along with their three daughters. It was an unforgettable occasion.
