Late in July Jim Davis, our Secretary, invited me to prepare the notes for this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. Jim had a very successful eye operation early in September and when I saw him in Hanover at the time of our Get-Together he was in excellent form but still not interested in composing a report of our Fall Jamboree. Late in August Jim informed me that the Editorial Board of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE had reduced the space allotted to 1919 for class notes by 50% (600 words instead of 1200). So before running out of space I want to wish you a happy Thanksgiving since you will not see these immortal words until sometime in November.

When George Rand became our class secretary in 1949 he promoted class reunions each fall in the Hanover area. For many years the old Woodstock Inn was headquarters and many of us remember happy reunions there. With the passage of time and with the new Woodstock Inn under construction a year ago it seemed wise to move our headquarters to the Hanover Inn in 1969. To accomplish this transition it was necessary to pick a time when the Inn could accommodate us. This eliminated the big weekends of the fall and we were happy to settle last year for a full fledged game with Boston College. In making plans for 1970 we felt we should follow our 1969 pattern and scheduled a get-together for the weekend before the opening game with the University of Massachusetts. This resulted in a very pleasant affair and the program followed the schedule outlined in the July 30 Smoke Signal.

(1) The Executive Committee meeting Friday afternoon was devoted to a discussion of class business and was a thoroughly harmonious affair. Adams and Daley were complimented for their long-time excellent performance and Russell was given a solid vote of confidence for the arrangements he made in Hanover this fall. The Smoke Signal will be sent out first class mail in the future. Many other classes have already adopted this mailing procedure. The tentative time for our 1971 Fall Get-Together is the date of the first home game in Hanover.

(2) Cocktails and dinner Friday evening in the Tavern Room connected with the Hanover Inn. We were served a delicious "sit-down" roast beef dinner. The postprandial entertainment was limited to some pertinent remarks by our President, NickSandoe, and the recitation of a poem by Jock Murray in pure Scottish dialect. Before the evening was over a little money changed hands across some bridge table? and the night cap ceremonies were properly observed.

(3) A buffet lunch was served in the Tavern Room Saturday noon with most of the Friday evening celebrants in attendance plus a few others. Space limitations preclude listing the names in the Alumni Magazine but you will see them in the Smoke Signal several weeks before these notes reach you.

(4) The inter-squad contest between the Dartmouth Green and White Teams ended with a tie score of 35-35.

(5) The Larmons were hosts again for a post-game gathering. Their brand of hospitality is superlative in all respects and greatly appreciated by all of us who have been in their home so many times in the past. Counting a few guests, the Get- Together attendance was around fifty, a very satisfactory number considering the game was just an inter-squad practice session. Several "regulars" were not able to come because of conflicts, illness, or family responsibilities. They were greatly missed.

A "Wah-Hoo-Wah" to our President NickSandoe and his wife Dorothy who were very solicitous that everyone there was having a pleasant time.

Jim Davis will prepare the notes for the December issue and amuse you in his unique way which no one else could possibly emulate.
