On October 22, 1770 the first meeting of the Dartmouth Board of Trustees was held m Keene, N. H. Two hundred years to the day, the class executive committee gathered at the Dartmouth Club in New York City. Messrs. John Blades, Ed Matthews, Eric Eichler, Joe Stevenson, Jack Hall, Skip Kerr, Frank Bruni, Dune Barnes, Tom Schwarz and your secretary were in attendance. A summary follows:
Eric Eichler reported that the Class is currently solvent and he was about to start the 1970-71 dues campaign. Jack reported that the dialogues program is moving along. Six members have participated and hopes are that in the second half of the year more will be invited to Hanover. Jack also was hopeful that dialogue idea would be prevalent at reunion in a somewhat different form. Skip Kerr announced that '57 has again increased its dollar support to the College through the Alumni Fund. A total of $18,916 was contributed by the Class last year. Skip made special mention of the following regional coordinators who did an outstanding job: Clyde Brownstone, Dick Perkins, George Southwick, Mike Matzkin, Tom Schwarz, Bob Smith, Tim Hanley, Jim Lawrence, John Cusick, Eric Lee, Dick Van Riper, Chuck Winslow (notice the first name-no longer "Chick"), Harry Mason, Don Burkhardt, Bill Kramer, and Art Johnson. The Class is most grateful for these coordinators and the strong team of class agents who helped produce a successful class giving program.
John Blades urges '57's from coast to coast to gather socially throughout the year on a local basis building enthusiasm for the reunion. The reunion was discussed in great detail by the committee and recommendations were sent to Ben Bixby who was fogged-in in Boston and unable to attend.
It was announced by Joe Stevenson that Ed Matthews has been named to head a nominating committee to develop a slate of new class officers to be installed at the reunion. If you have any ideas on the slate, please contact Ed (Minter's Candies, Division of Inmont Confections, Inc., 4th & Coates St., Bridgeport, Pa, 19405). Joe also announced that he would like this year to be a year of reactivation and rededication to the College. You will be hearing more about that in the President's Bulletin to be out soon.
