I did goof - missed you last month, not due to the mails but a change in assignments and three days of Bourbon Street at Super Bowl time was just a little too much for old Gene. I never thought that I would party-poop but jazz at 7:30 A.M. is tough to take. Yours truly ended up with one hell of a case of pleurisy partly caused by weather conditions but mostly by Southern liquid sunshine. It rained for three solid days!!

Earlier I mentioned change in assignments, as of January 1, 1970, Gene will be seen in the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Watertown, and Utica, N. Y., areas. All you guys within the confines of this New York state area please buy glass, P.P.G., that is!!

Evidently my sneaky plea for cards and letters had some effect on the '52's; Old Ironsides has had a steady flow of communications and, believe me, it couldn't make this guy happier. Keep up the fine work.

Now to the business at hand. Marcel Durot, Al Reich, George von Peterffy along with Ted Spiegel '53 and Dave McLaughlin '54 comprise a very active board for the National Paraplegia Foundation. I am sure that many of you recently received Marcel's fine explanatory letter and return letter, so let's get it up!!

Via the busy pens of Francis Chisdes and his very talented wife Carol, I find that life is in full swing at 49 Arlyn Drive, Lakewood, N. J. Francis guides the educational process in the area while Carol prepares Jonathan and Judith, better known as the "terrible, lovable, two's," for future exploitation of the world by way of Dad's tutelage. Your fine full letter and picture of the kids was much appreciated, Francis. We're extremely proud of your efforts in the field of education at Allentown High School.

From the Great White Way we hear that one of our gray flannel suiters has changed agencies. Dean Kutchera, formerly of L.P.E. - Robert Otto, Inc., New York, is now an account manager with Harry Reingold Advertising, Inc.

I'm just back from the Boston Alumni dinner and the affair was a grand one. Howie Smith, president of the Boston alumni, did a great job at the head table introducing the various dignitaries in attendance. Through his efforts and those of his fine staff approximately 1000 alumni were in attendance. It was a fine tribute to John Sloan Dickey and our new president, John Kemeny.

Ironically enough the first guy that I met at the affair was the debonair Marcel Durot, who has recently been named president of the Gillette Company's Toiletries Division. He is now in the stages of transfer from Chicago to Boston. The class of '52 was well represented at the affair just to mention a few whom I was able to see in the crowd were, Sandy Sanders and wife,Ed Finerty, Roger Phillips and wife, CharlieCurtis, Steve Parkhurst, and Jay Schokert.

Rapid Robert Kelly, my old roommate, is now the assistant vice president of the First National Bank of Springfield and will become the top man at the new Windsor office in Windsor, Vt. Bob has had 12 years' experience in banking, starting with the First National City Bank of New York in 1957. From 1966 to the present he has been an assistant vice president with the Dartmouth National Bank of Hanover.

Big John Barto, our prominent legal mind and partner in the Concord law firm of Orr and Reno, has been elected clerk of SPACE (Statewide Program of Action to Conserve our Environment), recently incorporated as a continuing conservation enterprise. John's other conservation activities include chairmanship of the Conservation Law Foundation's New Hampshire Chapter and of Trout Unlimited. Meanwhile he is a very active member, as you know, of our Alumni Council. Whew!!

Jolting Joe Baute has been transferred to the original land of the mini-skirt. Joe is manager of Markem U.S.A. and Markem Corporation is sending Joe to England for one year. Keep your mind on business, Joe!!!

Jerry Lukeman has been named to the newly created position of executive vice president of Audience Studies, Inc. Jerry had previously been vice president in charge of sales for the firm. In his new position, Jerry will have over-all supervision of ASI offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. He was also recently named vice president of Inmarco, Inc., the first holding company in the field of marketing research. Audience Studies, Inc., is a division of Inmarco, which is a wholly owned but independently operated subsidiary of Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. Sounds complicated, Jerry, but then again crystal balling the business world is never easy.

Charlie-Gilman, president of Gilman Paper Company, has been elected to the Board of Directors of Bell Television, Inc. Charlie also serves as president and director of the Gilman Foundation and of St. Marys Railroad in Georgia.

Charlie and his attractive wife Sondra live in New York with their two children. Phi Bet keys represent the n'th degree of preparation and Charlie is an excellent living example of what hard work can do for an individual.
