The tidbits of news have been few and far between during the past several weeks, and I shall apologize now in case this column lapses into an exercise in creative writing. In fact, I'm tempted to fill this months commentary with lies, exaggerations, and unbelievable misinformation to see if that will cause people to write — even if it will mean hate mail. Seriously, as I sit here facing the monthly challenge of trying to create a thousand words of at least reasonably interesting class news, the dirth of communication with other '65's is frightening. I'd welcome any and all information from all fronts - perhaps you could each scribble a note to accompany your gift to the '70 Alumni Fund with the word on how's by you.
I do know that Harry Margolin is scheduled to be married in June to Miss Judith Goldberg, a Simmons grad with an M.A.from Tufts. Harry has a law degree from Harvard and is now a legal officer with VISTA in New York City.
Dr. Brian Kluck is an intern in psychology at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He has a master'sand a doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Waterloo in Ontario.
Tom Marks has continued his pursuit ofa musical career, and is currently a violinistwith the Vancouver Symphony Orchestrain British Columbia.
For the sake of geographical distribution I'll throw in the news that Mike Messina is now with the Legal Aid Society in Albuquerque. Until January he was an associate with Townsend and Lewis in N.Y.C.
John Moyers has returned to the States after a year of study at the London School of Economics, and has been appointed to the position of assistant principal at the Bateman School in Chicago.
Eric and Jeanne Knox and their new baby will move to Boston in early summer, and he will head up the government's birth control program in New England and the Middle Atlantic States. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Med School in January 1969.
Medicine is also Dave Soule's bag. He's the research director of the Health Facilities Planning Council in Augusta, Me.
Dave Hazelton is a flight instructor for the Ontario Flight Service in Oregon. He's been with Ontario since his Army hitch terminated in 1968.
Collecting degrees from Columbia seems to be John Haskins' calling. He recently received his law degree from there, and is now studying for an MBA at the same school. He's also been named a student International Fellow at the B School this year.
Living at subsistence as a teacher finally got to Jim Ramsey, so he and Kathy moved to Bowling Green, Ohio, where he is associated with Allstate Co. - selling insurance to teachers (actually he's a casualty adjuster).
Dave Pearsall has been very active during the past year. Last spring he received his M.D. from the University of North Carolina, and then in June he married Miss Marjorie Baum of Milledgeville, Ga. They're living now in Madison, Wis., while Dave interns at the University of Wisconsin Hospital.
The next time you raise a snifter of "Hi-C" to your lips think of Pete Marshall. He's the product manager for Hi-C with Coca-Cola Foods Division. Home is Houston, Texas.
Ken McGruther is still married to the Navy. He now holds the rank of lieutenant, and is stationed aboard the "U.S.S. Roark" in the Pacific.
Recently brother Richardson was in touch with me to report that he has our tund-raising machinery back in gear. John is very enthusiastic about '65's potential for giving this spring, but it will take a strong effort on everyone's part to realize his goal of increased contributions and participation, up to this point in our alumni career our class has been a dud as a financial suporter of the College - hopefully John's enthusiasm will rub off oh all of us so Wat '70 will be our best Alumni Fund snowing yet. Get it up!
Have a happy spring!
