Bill Heep has been appointed a vice president of Lord & Taylor. He has been managing director of the Westchester store in Scarsdale since its opening in 1948. Bill started at Lord & Taylor right after graduation and became buyer of hosiery in 1934, then headed up other departments. All of us remember Bill for his friendly manner and his brilliant playing on the basketball team for three years. In his junior year he helped win the Ivy League championship, and in his senior year captained the team which came close to winning the title again. He and the late Lanky Langdell were named to the All-League first team.

Bill and Gert just returned from two weeks in Key Biscayne — a block away from Nixon but he did not come over for a drink. They have two married daughters (one the wife of Lawson Van Riper's son, Richard '57) and a son, Bill '67.

This '28 outfit is a pretty close-knit organization! On March 21 Miss Mary M. Just of Oak Park, Ill., and our son, Scott, '64, were married by Justice Myles J. Lane in his chambers in New York. The bride was graduated cum laude from Barnard and is in her second year at the Columbia University Law School. Scott graduated with honors from Dartmouth in 1964, spent two years with the Peace Corps in Nepal, and graduated from Columbia Law last year. He is an attorney on the staff of the Institute for Public Administration, a non-profit research organization in New York. Incidentally, thirty years ago Myles served as an usher at Mary's and my wedding here in Troy.

While writing last month's notes, we couldn't find memos (ever have that trouble?) from President Jack Kenerson and Treasurer Craig Haines, telling about the annual Dartmouth alumni dinner in Boston in February. The notes finally came to light: — in addition to Jack and Fran, Craig and Eleanor, the '28 table was graced by Howie andCaroline Bush, Wes McSorley, and JimNewton, accompanied by his preacher son, Chandler Newton '66. In our class of 750 men, we never had a minister — we're happy to have one among the sons of '28ers.

A letter just received from John Phillips says the following represented our Class at the dinner given in honor of President John Kemeny by the Board of Trustees at the Commodore Hotel in New York on March 30: Frank Hankins, Ted Baehr, Bill Marx, Larry Kenney, Herm Schnepel, Roy Myers, Art Kneerim, Phil Orsi, Myles Lane, and, of course, John.

Walter Molina has been named an assistant vice president of Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co. Walt has been superintendent of agencies since 1964, and lives in West Hartford, Conn.

The Class is off to a good start in the Green Derby, a friendly Alumni Fund competition between the classes from 1927-1933. The second interim statement shows '28 leading in number of contributors, and third in percent of objective, with $11,223 already in of our objective of $45,370. Class Agent Lew Beers and each of his assistants hope you will give generously this year — and soon.

The engagement of Parker Noyes' son, Richard '68, and Miss Lana Friend, both of Beverly, Mass., has been announced.

Word Gilboy, whose house and bookstore in Rochester were acquired by Xerox to make room for a new office building, has decided to retire and his latest address is 245 San Jose Ave., Los Gatos, Calif.

Hotelman John C. Waller has moved from Michigan to 5901 S.W. 42nd Terrace, Miami. ... Bill Alford, who retired last year as a partner of Dean Witter & Co., has moved from Chicago to 125 Via Vizcaya, Palm Beach.

John Lawrence, who retired three years ago from the N. E. Telephone Co., decided that he couldn't face the enforced inactivity of a New England winter, so he and Barbara bought a travel trailer and spent the winter touring Florida to see if that is where they want to make their home in the future. They tried to see Bruce Lewis but didn't realize he is still a working man and missed him. They stopped over with George Emery in New Jersey on the way south and again in April on the way back to Marion, Mass. Jack says he has fished more and caught less than anyone who ever visited Florida.

Larry Martin has been elected a trustee of Governor Dummer Academy, from which two of his sons graduated, and is chairman of the leadership gifts committee of the Academy's capital funds drive.
