Congratulations to John and JennieHinman, who celebrated the 60th anniversary of their wedding, Sept. 12, 1971. The affair was held in their home with all four sons and wives present—also 13 grandchildren. It was a jolly and happy week for them. May you have many more. John reports that he and Jennie are well and are enjoying life.
Chick Currier, shepherd of '08's California flock, sends his best to all. He sees Allan Perkins quite frequently and says Perk is getting along, following the loss of his wife. Perk has rented an apartment and will move after he sells his house. John and Jennie Hinman were in Maine this summer and visited Paris Hill and saw the grave of Harry Lyon, navigator of ships and aircraft. When there, they stopped to view an old brick house, that has been in the same family to the fifth generation. John spoke to the woman there and asked her if she had known Harry Lyon. She answered, "Oh, yes, he was loved by everyone, and had a voice that would charm the birds." It has taken many years and a bit of scouting to hear about the voice, or has someone had a prior opportunity?
It is with a deep sense of grief that we announce the death of John S. Everett on August 25. It seems but a short time that he wrote of the good health of himself and wife as he prepared for his trip to Ireland, as told in these columns. '08 will sorely miss Jack's cheery, friendly manner, and loyal devotion to the Class and the College. An obituary will be found on another page of this or a subsequent number.
