Shorty Hitchcock, in an effort to escape the heat, has had a "nice trip by plane, ship, and train" to Banff, Alberta. Dave Shumway sends a cheery word from Baysville, Ontario. So it goes.

The loyal widow of a loyal 'l6'er has supplied a picture taken in 1920 on the occasion of her "first visit to Hanover." It shows a freshman, clad in newspapers, kneeling on the steps of the Inn and proposing to her at the insistence of a group of grinning sophomores. Such was Delta Alpha then. I have another picture showing the Commencement procession in 1916. Chick (Chester A.) Pudrith is the marshall and Dick Parkhurst is carrying the American flag. To the best of my knowledge this was the first Dartmouth Commencement at which the flag was at the head of the procession. It you have other pictures relating to Dartmouth in our day, please send them in for permanent preservation in the archives of the College.
If you have no pictures within easy reach, just write me a letter. I have trouble getting letters out of classmates. Reminds me of old Walter Fowler. His dory upset four miles off Pemaquid Point. Walt straddled a passing dolphin. When he hove to dockside somebody asked how he liked the trip. "Fine and dandy," replied Walt, "but I had trouble keeping my hat on."
