Prolific author Brock Brower had an article in Life magazine's issue on leisure time; Brock's article was entitled "Taking the Kids and Surviving It: a Case for Togetherness." After carefully reading the article, I have concluded that (a) Brock's kids are a whole lot better behaved than the kids who live at my house, and (b) Brock's survival techniques apparently stem from his brief Hanover kidnapping in 1953.
George Haigh has been elected vice president and general manager of DeVilbiss Company, a major division of Champion Spark Plug Company. He and Joan live at 3743 Brookside Road, in Toledo, with their daughter, Connie (12) and their son, Stephen (10).
Allan Miller has forsaken the joys of Gotham for the tranquility of Columbus, Ohio, as Borden, Inc. has transferred its administrative headquarters from Lindsayville to Woody Hayesland. He can now be run to earth at 1075-F Iron Gate Lane, in Columbus.
Ron Lazar is vice president-marketing services director for Union Underwear Co., better known by its trademark, Fruit of the Loom, which he joined 13 years ago. Ron and family live at 37 Hill Lane, in Roslyn Heights, N. Y., where Ron is an avid sailboat racer and is president of the local civic association.
Mayo Johnson has been elected presi- dent of the Beverly (Mass.) Hospital. Mayo has served his internship and residency at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston, and at Mary Hitchcock in Hanover. He also spent a year as assistant surgeon at the Grenfell Mission hospital in Newfoundland, and was a captain in the Army medical corps in Thailand. He has been on the Beverly Hospital staff as a general surgeon for five years. He, Julie, and their two children live at 256 E. Lothrop St. in Beverly.
Jim Goldstone, whose very distinguished hirsute likeness appeared in Show magazine recently, has filmed Jimmy Breslin's "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight." Jim has many film director credits, including "Red Sky at Morning" and "Winning."
John Amerman has been named vice president and general manager of Warner Lambert's Dubarry Division. John joined Warner-Lambert in 1965 and has previously served as vice president of Advertis-ing and Product Management of both the Products and the American Chicle Divisions of the Consumer Products Group. Prior to that he was a product manager at Colgate-Palmolive. John, his wife and their two children live in Chester, N. J.
Bob Henderson recently received the "Marketing Man of the Year" Award from the sales and marketing executives of Greater Boston. Hendy is associate group vice president of Honeywell Information Systems, Inc., the "other" computer company.
Bob Callendar, president of Computer Property Corporation, in New York, and George Jacobus, president of Fairfield Communities Land Company, in Little Rock, have announced that their two firms have held exploratory merger discussions. This is not exactly what you'd call a social note, but it's a true indicator of our present station in life: we're too old to be issuing our own wedding notices and too young for those of our children, so a "marriage" among classmates' companies is both appropriate and fitting.
