The attendance was great for the class reunion at and after the Penn game on October 9. Again we enjoyed good football, excellent weather and superb sociability. Seen at the game were: Bill and Harriet MacCarty, Lew and Bea Chester, Bill and Marcella Teahan, Cliff Johnson, Gobe and Julia Stair, Bill and Marion Starr and Swede Branson. Georgre Drowne hosted a get together at the Norwich Inn immediately following the game which was attended by John and Charlene Scanlon; Whit and Ginny Kimball and their guests, the Bob Bittles; George and Polly Farrand together with their son Dick '68 and his wife Karen; Bob and Babe Fox; Sid and Miriam Stoneman; Dave and Jeanne Russell; Jud and Ginney Pierson, Nick and Dot Nichols; Bud and Katherine King; Doug and Rita Kaplinger; Jack and Dottie Manchester and their guests, the Washburns; Ed and Peg Knapp; Chan Sprague, all the way from San Francisco; Bob and Jean Mitchell; Jack and Madeline Wright; Jeff and Bea Davis; and Bob Sands just recently transferred by Pepsi Cola from Caracas, Venezuela to New York. It was a great gathering. Thanks again, George, for the delicious dinner and for handling all the details.

All the '33 sons who entered in 1967 were graduated last June in the class of '71: Thomas B. Goldthwait, Dick; William J. Hamilton, George; James C. Smith, Harold; Justin A. Stanley Jr. Jus; Howe G. Wheelock, Howe; James MacP. Wood, Don.

Bob Fox very kindly reported on the Harvard game: "Among those I saw and spoke to, briefly, were: Wes and Jan Beattie, Sid and Miriam Stoneman, Archie Lade, Sam and Carol Gass, John and Charlene Scanlon, Hal and Polly Hackett, Bob Mitchell, Mel and Mary Hershenson and Rollie and Mary Stevens. They were in Boston visiting their daughter and grandchild. Of course the Foxes and Nichols were on hand too. The Mecks were in a different section, we saw them Friday at the City Hall where the Hopkins art exhibit was on display, but not at the game. The Kimballs definitely were absent because their son used their tickets and he sat next to me."

Those of you who knew Otto Schneibs will be saddened to learn of his death of bone cancer at Saranac Lake, N. Y. on October 8 at the age of 78. He immigrated from Germany in 1927 and he was one of the nation's pioneer ski instructors. After coaching at Dartmouth, he went to St. Lawrence University and most recently had been operating a ski shop at Whiteface Mountain.

The following enjoyed a beautiful day in Hanover for the Yale game and also had the thrill of seeing an exciting game: Ev and Alice Shineman, Howie Schuemann, Wes and Jan Beattie, John S. Thompson, Mel and Mary Hershenson, Jim Campbell, Sam and Jean Black, Jack and Madeline Wright, Hal and Copey Smith, Art and Mary Connelly, Gordon and Charlotte Ingram, Don and Mugs D'Arcy, Bill and Eleanor Bates, Bill Dewey, Ed Weidenhamer, Jud and Ginney Pierson, John Meek, Swede Branson, Lew Chester, Rip and Betty Ripley, and Jeff and Bea Davis.

In the news: Bob Estes spoke at the sixth annual Legislative Conference for Maryland Businessmen and Page Worthington says he did an excellent job. The New York Times of September 27 stated: "Representative Henry P. Smith, Republican of North Tonawanda, has been waging his own secret battle against inflation for six months, returning 10 per cent of his gross pay to the United States Treasury."

Wes Beattie is already hard at work on the Alumni Fund as shown by his detailed letter of October 26. Now that we are No. 1, let's continue to hold our position. Please make your pledges and gifts early and consider carefully the suggestion of monthly checks.

Ed Hird of Ridgewood, N. J., cooperated by answering my plea for news as follows: "You must be desperate, man! Stamped, hand-addressed return card! I could make this a job application. After 27 years in textiles and ten years in boats (retail) I'm looking for a new field. Got three great kids and no wife and good health. Well, you asked for it!"

More next month—if you write! Enjoy the holidays!
