The nice thing about a New England autumn is the opportunity to visit with many classmates in the stands at Hanover, Harvard, etc.

Faces seen include Gary Spies, Dave Gundy, Bob Quay, Stu Johnson, John Wilkinson, Dick Centracchio, Bob Aiken, Robbi Cox, Carl Palmer, Bill Pierce, Bill Sadd, Gordi Williamson, John Schiffman, Jim Abramson, Don Samuelson, John Knight, Jim Biggs, and Tom Komarack. My apologies for those seen, but not remembered. Nearly all expressed an affirmative yes when asked if they would be in attendance in June.

Dick and Judy Wright attended the Yale game, leaving their four daughters home in Hartford. Dick says its been some time since he heard from Bill Whaley.

Still making his way in Massachusetts politics is Paul Tsongas who holds a seat on the Lowell City Council. Previously, Paul had been associated with the State Attorney General's office. When he's not out soliciting votes, Paul works as a partner in the law office of the mayor of Lowell. For all his efforts Paul was recently named one of the four outstanding young men in Massachusetts by the Massachusetts Jaycees.

Paul Snow must be too busy to write. But, thanks to wife Marilyn, we learn that Paul is Assistant Vice President of Mitchell, Hutchins and Co., Inc. We also learn that Paul and Marilyn have one son, Scott Andrew.

Colorado Springs is home for Dick andJean Hannah who keep busy with Richie (2) and Amy Elizabeth (9 months).

Bill Carpenter is a couple of jumps ahead of the column. He spent this past summer on the faculty of the College of the Atlantic in Maine where he concentrated on the relationship of the humanities and the understanding of ecology. Bill spends the rest of the year in the midwest with his wife and son where he is an assistant professor of English at the University of Chicago. During the past ten years he's also managed to pick off his PhD at the University of Minnesota and is presently writing a book on Yeats.

Word has it that Bill Stern is moving up the corporate ladder with GTE Sylvania. He joined the company in 1966 and after a series of advancements was elevated to the position of Revenue Requirements Administrator. How about a note explaining that, Bill?

Jack Seymour has made the jump to class five in the Foreign Service of the U. S. Jack has been associated with the Service since 1967 and is presently assigned to the American Consulate in Zagreb, Yugoslavia as chief of the consular section where, no doubt, he utilizes his knowledge of Serbo-Croation, French and German. Jack and Lea and son Peter (3) are the ones to see next time you're passing through Yugoslavia. Also appointed to class five in the Foreign Service was Henry Clarke who is presently located in the American Embassy in Lagos, Nigeria as Economics Officer.

Others on the move: Simms Browning was named Vice President of Research for Lombard, Vitalis, Paganucci and Nelson last July (as reported by the "Wall Street Journal.") Nick King was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Chicago. Jeff Reinert is now senior vice president of Management Advisors of Princeton, Inc. Josh Rich was promoted to director of research services at Reynolds and Company in N.Y.C.

Jerry Cohen sent on a nice letter from Rolla, Mo. where he teaches Russian and German at the Rolla campus of the University of Missouri. Jerry picked un his PhD in Slavic Linguistics at Columbia University before landing in Rolla. He is also publishing a bulletin entitled "Comment on Etymology" which appeal biweekly and seems to be catching on with the people in the field.

With the reunion just a few short months away, Don Samuelson requests that you send back your poster inserts (received with the reunion poster) indicating your plans for reunion.

It's time to settle down for our long winter's nap here in New Hampshire. Hope the holidays are happy and the New Year brings to each of you your measure of peace.
