Alfred Nutt writes that it is out of the question for him to expect to make the reunion in June: physical conditions prevent. Al is unable to do much walking, even with a cane; also he is deaf—must use a hearing aid, which helps when talking with one person, but is useless in a crowd. His phone is: 408-624-8261—ext. 284. Glad to hear from you, Al—we shall miss you.
Mrs. Cora Taylor, widow of Raymond R.Taylor, has a very pleasant home at 2320 Byron St., Palo Alto, Calif., and a garden of which she takes excellent care. She is active in social and Church life; does not anticipate reuning in June, although I am sure she would contribute much to our enjoyment in Hanover. She has a keen interest in 1911—and serves a good cup of coffee.
My visit with Mrs. Ross Rambeau (Mildred Rollins) at 214 Rosemont Ave., LaJolla, was equally pleasant. Her home is on the slope at waters edge, and benefits from a cooling breeze off the bay. Unfortunately, she does not plan to be with us in June.
My effort to contact Harold F. Whitcomb in Los Angeles was greeted with the news of his death, which had not reached me prior to my trip west—and a great disappointment to me.
Fred Long: is recovering from a stroke at home in Santa Barbara, Calif. His voice is normal, but his feet are not: we hope that a recovery may take place so that he may make the trip in safety, as also any others who may have obstacles to making the trek to Hanover in June. When I heard that voice, I knew it was Fred. L.0.T.0. (Let's overcome the obstacles).
The Rev. E. E. Morrill, now living in Sonoma, Calif., is retired from active work, fifteen years as pastor of the Grand Ave. Cong'l. Church, Chicago, followed by a similar term at Denison Ave. Church, Cleveland. In the first case he was also on the Commission on Civic Relations, and in the second, on the Outlook and Strategy Comm'n. One of his twin sons became an Army chaplain, and the other, a missionary in Japan. Following the death of his first wife in 1962, he married a member of his former congregation in Chicago. In addition to the problems with his hearing, and with his vision, he also suffers from Parkinson's Disease. But, he usually goes east in the spring, and will join us at Hanover, if at all possible. He received the inspiration to devote himself to this calling, during his first years at Dartmouth.
Lin Yi Ho is listed as being in Woodland Hills in N. W. Los Angeles, but I could find no address or phone number. Following the death of Arthur H. Gray, his widow moved to Walnut Creek, Calif. She suffered severely from a fall not long ago and at present, is making a good recovery. Their three children are married and living in California. Art had eight years of retirement.
