Bob Simpson has been elected executive vice president of Pfizer Europe, a subsidiary of Pfizer Inc. Burger, who has a Tuck- Thayer degree, joined Pfizer in 1958 as a production supervisor in their Brooklyn plant and transferred to Pfizer International early in 1959. Following several assignments in Asia (and an Australian wedding), Bob became director of pharmaceutical development for Pfizer Europe in 1966 and was elected vice president in 1969. Since January 1970 he has had additional responsibilities for Pfizer operations in a number of European countries plus the Middle East. He and Anne and Their four children live at 55 Rue-du Moulin a Papier, 1160 Brussels, Belgium.

Adolph "Sam" Franz has been appointed secretary of the medical board of the Meriden-Wallingford (Conn.) Hospital. Sam joined the hospital's provisional staff as a specialist in orthopedics and was appointed to the active staff in 1967. He received his M.D. degree at Tufts, interned at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, and has held residencies at Mary Hitchcock, Shriners' (Boston), and Boston City Hospitals. Besides serving on various committees at the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital, Sam is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He and Lois live in Meriden with their five children Stuart (12½) Kriston [10½), Katherine (9), Susan (6½), and Peter (5).

John Sigler, professor of political science at Macalester College in Minnesota, recently journeyed to Vermont to lecture on The Search for Peace in the Middle East" at Middlebury College. John has been concerned with problems in the Middle t-ast for more than a decade, first as a political research officer for the United states Mission to NATO, and more recently, in scholarly research. As befits our valedictorian, John has collected sheepskins from various other eminent educational institutions, having done postgraduate work the University of Grenoble and also at tfle University of Tunis, in addition to Reiving an M.A. from Georgetown and a rnD. from the University of Southern California. He and Joan live in St. Paul w'ith their three children.

Ben Branch has recently returned from India where he spent over a year working w>th a team of physicians on a pilot project designed to test the safety and effectiveness of birth control pills on 20,000 Indian women. Ben says, "The results were extremely encouraging and were presented to the government of India as justification for acceptance of the pill." Ben was the only American working on the project with a team of Indian physicians. He was selected by the State Department's Agency for International Development to go to India to serve as medical advisor for the then pilot oral contraceptive program. Ben and his family were based in New Delhi where the children attended "a superb school," they had "excellent housing and seven servants," he said. (It's a good bet none of those servants had kis.) In his 13- month stay, Ben traveled throughout India visiting many villages which had never had any experience with modern medicine and he traveled to neighboring countries collecting data for this project.

Ed Fowler has recently joined Equitable Life Assurance as field account manager. Previously he was with Liberty Mutual in various sales capacities, most recently in their South Orange (N.J.) office. Ed now savors the joys of being a regular Manhattan commuter which, astonishingly, hasn't affected Ed's relaxed and congenial manner. He and Ruth live in Livingston with their 5-year-old son, Stephen.
