David B. Metz, Head Agent for the Class of 1954, was awarded the 1971 Alumni Fund Committee Trophy at the New York alumni dinner on March 24. The trophy is awarded each year in recognition of outstanding and consistent performance by an agent and his class over a period of years. The following citation accompanied the award:
It is hard to imagine any Head Class Agent who has devoted more hard work and applied more imagination—and with such outstanding effect—in the past two Fund Campaigns than Dave Metz. Taking over after 1954's successful 15th Reunion Campaign, Dave has continued to lead the class forward to new levels of achievement each year. Applying all his skills as a business executive to each campaign, he has organized an effective agent team, provided inspiring mailings and closed each year with a strong telephone campaign effort. Against some of the toughest Green Derby competition of all, Dave's efforts and the response of the 1954 fellowship netted the class a first place tie in the 1970 campaign. Because of his truly outstanding and inspiring work on behalf of the College, the Alumni Fund Committee gratefully awards its own special trophy to Dave Metz and the Class of 1954.
