Although the Alumni Club of Southeastern Connecticut is five years young, this is probably the first club news to be submitted. We have been meeting regularly on a quarterly basis, and although miles apart geographically, our members are drawn together by the unfailing Dartmouth Spirit. We have approximately 60 interested and active members.
Our last meeting on March 19 was held at the Connecticut Yankee Motor Inn in Niantic, and featured Greg Prince, Director of the Summer College, whose talk was most beneficial to all of us. A lively question and answer period followed. Those in attendance were Bunny and Bill Webster '39, Janet and Corny Miller '39, Vesta and Horace "Bud" Bush '26, Pat and Craig Haines '58, Jane and Bill Daniells '36, Pat and Mike Cronin '59, Doris and Jerry Goodwin '28, Madeline and Joe Wool Dr. and Mrs. Hilliard Spitz '39, Jean and Al Winkler '44, Carol and Ivar Josus '61 (Ivar has recently been appointed to the Conn. Bar), Sara and Karl Friedmann 25 and Joan and Karl Friedmann '53.
This affair was also our annual meeting, ana the following were elected officers: President, Craig Haines '58; vice-president, Bill Spicer '62; secretary, MikeCronin '59; and treasurer, Al Winkler '44. Mike and Al were incumbents, and had no opposition in being re-elected.
Our next meeting is planned for May 15. This is an annual affair, where the Club hosts the Ledyard Canoe Club on the annual canoe trip from Hanover to Old Saybrook, Conn. The Websters kindly open their summer home at Fenwick, and the Men from Dartmouth find a hot shower, good food, libation, and a soft bunk awaiting them. All hands pitch in to make this a most memorable finish to a good year for the Club. Usually, Corny Miller manages to get out in his boat on the river and seek out and escort some of the stragglers. We haven't lost a canoe yet!
As of this writing, we are waiting for news of area candidates for the Class of '75, and are as anxious as they are.
