As the 1971 Alumni Fund Campaign neared the end of its first month, the total received in gifts and pledges was close to one million dollars. As of April 20, the Fund stood at $910,000 in gifts and pledges from just over 7,000 donors. The 1971 campaign is running approximately 15% ahead of last year in both donors and dollars, but about even with the pace of 1968 when the final total was a record $2,148,548.
The 1971 goal of $2,500,000, already budgeted in the College's 1970-71 fiscal year, represents a 25% increase over the $2,000,000 level at which the Fund has been stabilized during the past four years of the Third Century Fund.
The chairman of the Dartmouth Alumni Council's 1971 Alumni Fund Committee is Robinson Bosworth Jr. '37 of Milwaukee. Approximately 4,000 head and assistant class agents are working to achieve this year's record goal, which carries an especially crucial role in the balancing of the College's 1970-71 books.
