The New York Savings Bank Association is to be congratulated for electing such a competent leader as Bill Morton as its president. The Syracuse newspapers have referred to him as the "silver-haired, quick and bouncy banker; his classmates call him "Dynamo." He has been president of the Onondaga County Savings Bank since 1958 and has held every Dartmouth office in the book, including president of our class from 1961-68.

The annual Class Officers Meetings in Hanover April 30-May 1 were attended by President Jack Kenerson and Fran, Treasurer Craig Haines and Eleanor and Co-Editor of the class newsletter, StewHoagland and Bea. Class Agent LewBeers had to cancel his reservation at the last minute because he was having sharp abdominal pains and his physician wanted to check them out. Your secretary also had to cancel his plans to attend at the last minute not due to his health but because his vice president and right-hand man had -just suffered a heart attack.

The Yosemite Winter Club paid tribute at its annual meeting and banquet April 8 to Charley Proctor, recently retired executive of the Yosemite Park & Curry Co. Charley and Mary are now residents of Santa Cruz, Calif., but for years Charley was known as "the skimeister of Yosemite, National Park." Charley was captain of the Dartmouth ski team in 1927 and a member of the 1928 Olympic Ski Team, placing 14th in jumping and 26th in Combined. He was elected to the National Ski Hall Fame in 1959, and was followed by his father, our beloved Prof. Charles A Proctor, who was elected in 1967.

Additions to the coronary club include Larry Miter of Houston, who spent most of November m the hospital followed by the usual rest, which forced him and Theda to cancel their planned trip up North Larry has just sent us a half-page clipping, complete with picture, about Bob Maclellan from the May 1 issues of "Forbes" Bob chairman and chief executive officer of Chattanooga's Provident Life & Accident Insurance Co., is praised for his leadership of "one of the faster growing, more profitable outfits." Since Bob became president in 1952, his company has increased its insurance in force tenfold, to $10.7 billion.

Wat Dickerman, retired University of California professor, had an interesting trip recently to see the whales that breed in a huge lagoon halfway down the Baja California coast. Eleanor had a bad fail while he was away, breaking two vertebrae, but they expected to be able to board a freighter in mid-April for a voyage to the islands of Micronesia.

Feet Thurston used as a thank-you for our birthday card a post card he bought 44 years ago, depicting what used to be known as Amos Tuck Hall. We also appreciated a card from Elliott Donnelley from Delray Beach.

Newly retired is Craig Haines who has been with the First National Bank of Boston since 1928, and a vice president since 1957. He is serving his fourth five-year term as Class Treasurer and will have more time to devote to class affairs. He ends a recent note, "Oh, for a secretary again!" Harry Philbrick didn't write us he has retired after 41 years with R. H. Stearns Co. in Boston but we suspect as much because his address has been the store since 1936 and now it is 75 Kingsbury St., Needham, Mass. Charles Hunt retired from the Northrup Supply Co., Ilion, N. Y. and is living at 61 Lake St., Coopertown, N. Y., which makes him a neighbor of AlecKerr.

John E. Norton, assistant to the president of Consolidation Coal Co., Pitts-burgh, has just retired after 42 years with that company.

Howie Bush sent us Caroline's copy of the Skidmore College magazine describing the dedication of the new Riding Center on the New Campus. Honored guests mentioned included Mrs. Howard P. Serrell, of Greenwich, Conn., president of the American Dressage Institute which is moving its headquarters to the Center. Presiding at the ceremonies was Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. '42, president of Skidmore.
