Fall — and once the football season has started, could the class notes column be far behind? Actually, the class notes column is far behind. Because the copy has to be submitted a month before the issue in which it appears, we have news dating back to June. So we'll get the old stuff out of the way first — a euphemistic way of saying that there's more old news than new.
After consulting my checkbook and finding a net loss of $40 for ten weeks of work this summer, it is somewhat discon-certing to learn that Pete Elitzer has moved up from his "Pete the Peddler" truck and now owns Huck Finn Clothiers in Latham, N. Y., which grossed $150,000 last year. By the time you read this, Pete's second store should have opened in his hometown of East Greenbush, N. Y.
Also making money are Bob Schnabel, class treasurer, who is a systems programmer in Chase Manhattan's Manpower Resources System Development Department and Don O'Neill who at last report was assistant manager of a Burstein-Applebee store in beautiful downtown Denver. In his letter Don revealed that John Bishop has been working as a tour guide on cross-country buses.
Since we mentioned in May that MarkNelson was to be a delegate at the GOP convention (he was), it's only right to report that Dave Aylward was with the Rhode Island delegation to the Democratic convention. Dave was not a delegate but did liaison work between the delegation and McGovern headquarters. Before going to Miami, Dave worked in primaries in Wisconsin, New York, Ohio, Michigan and of course New Hampshire.
Greg Karnaze, after one year of graduate work in biochemistry at Oregon, left school and spent three months studying yoga under Maharishi Mahesh. Now a member of the International Meditation Society, Greg has lectured at Wichita State University, among other places.
Finally, a whole bunch of people got married over the summer. . . . In the Boston area Lew Harriman wed Cynthia Wills and Ken DePaul, lane Keay. TomShade married Jane Anne Bush in August; the reception was attended by many '71s, both invited and not. . . . Scott Wiley, who is attending the University of Chicago Business School, married Joy McArthur: Ralph Tennant was best man and JerryO'Brien an usher . . . Pete McClanathan, a classmate of Gary Okey's at Harvard Law, traveled to Madison, Wise., for Gary's wedding to Shelley McCormick . . . Finally, Class Agent Jeff McElnea is celebrating both a successful Alumni Fund drive and his marriage to Michele McFaull at the end of August. Seen lurking in the area were Jim Smith, Bon Hoffmaster,John Eaton and his date Wilma Fingerdu, Doug; Urban, Bob Cordy and Eddie-David Stapleton.
That's all for now. Hope to see many of you up in Hanover this fall so I have something to write about this winter.
