A 1928 dinner and warm-up for next June's 45th will be held January 9 at the Dartmouth Club of New York which, in case you don't know, is in the Commodore Hotel. 1927 and perhaps 1929 will join us so the three classes which will be in Hanover together this June can have a midwinter reunion. These January dinners have been a tradition in our Class but somehow was skipped last year.

In addition to those from the metropolitan area, we usually welcome several classmates from a distance, so try to schedule a business or pleasure trip to New York on January 9. Jack Zellers is dinner chairman. Having completed all the preliminary work, Jack and Peg are leaving November 9 on the Boston Dartmouth Alumni Paris trip.

The 45th Reunion co-chairmen, CalBillings and George Emery, are hard at work. Paul Cutler, Chicago lawyer, has agreed to serve on the Reunion Committee and he and Jane will be on hand June 11-13 (write those dates down). Paul has visited Hanover on several occasions because of his close association with the Friends of the Dartmouth Library, but he has never made a Hanover Reunion. Incidentally, the 40th Year Book shows a good picture of Jane and Paul but unfortunately she is misnamed, so a contrite editor asks that you take pen in hand and correct your copy.

The mayor of Palm Beach Shores, Fla., Bruce Lewis, has also accepted a position on the Reunion Committee and will stir up interest down there. Of course Thelma and he will attend. He sold the Lewis Historical Publishing Co. but claims his new job keeps him so busy he had to work all day on the new Veteran's Day holiday (October 23 ) just to catch up with things.

The Connecticut Horticultural Society's schedule of lectures for 1973 includes one on February 15 titled "It's for the Birds" by Mr. and Mrs. Daniel P. Hatch of Rosemont, Pa. Cal Billings is a member and will go to hear Dan and Mary Alice. The lecture will be at 8 p.m. in the Hoadley Auditorium, 1 Elizabeth St., Hartford.

Gayle Leslie has retired as president of the Peoples Savings bank of Van Wert, Ohio, but still has an office at the bank and keeps busy when he and Carmen are not at their winter home on the grounds of the Tucson National Golf Club, where they play golf every day.

Carmen wrote to tell us of the passing of Harold Walter, who lived in Van Wert until his retirement. It is with sadness that we report the death of three other classmates: Steve Davis, William H.Flynn Jr. and Tom Talbot.

The first recipient of the Esther A. andJames W. Campion 1928 Memorial Scholarship is Robert J. Calcaterra, who graduated with honors from the Archbishop Molloy High School in Whitestone, N. H., in 1971. He was high scorer on the Dartmouth freshman basketball team last winter. The scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. George Bishop of Etna, N. H. Mrs. Bishop is the former Anne Chamberlain, a daughter of Esther Campion's.

Attorney Ken Graf of Manchester, N. H., has been reelected president and chairman of the board of the N. H. Jockey Club, Inc., operator of Rockingham Park. The election of officers of the publicly-owned corporation was held in conjunction with the annual stockholders' meeting. Ken also serves as president of the N. H. Trotting and Breeding Association which conducts harness racing at Rockingham Park.

The annual 1928 fall reunion in Norwich was a great success as usual, with 65 at dinner at the Norwich Inn Saturday night and six more stopping in before dinner. The victory over Princeton was pleasant to watch. Being a reunion class we had excellent seats in the west stands. Near us was Ed Flanders and his 11-year old son, Pete Bennett, Bill Marx, Barney Nova,George Davis and many in the next section, none of whom were able to get to the Norwich gathering.

Attending the after-game party and dinner at the Norwich Inn were, with wife unless indicated: George Bell; Cal Billings; Clark Blyth; Ralph Church from Des Moines, Iowa; Ken Cuddeback and son and date, his son being only '28 son now at Dartmouth; Al Lathrop from San Francisco; Rocky Keith; Red Jenkins alone; Craig Haines; George Emery with daughters Lisa and Susan and Susan's husband; Curley Prosser; John Nixon; Scotty Miller; John Phillips; Wes Patience; Jules Lemkin and seven members of his family; Barney Norton; Tim Paige; Curly Sadler; Herb Russell; Chuck Bruder alone; Dick Rendell alone (he had come up from Washington on AMTRAK's newly revived Montrealer); Joe Smith; Os Skinner; Herb Sensenig, chairman of the Fall Reunion; President Jack Kenerson; Bill Treanor; Rog Sundeen; Bill Williams; Carter Woods; Joe Tidd; Jerry Warner; and Wes Wood.

The Merriest of Christmases and a Happy 1973 to all in 1928.
