As I write my monthly column for you, my dear classmates, I took out into the courtyard of this beautiful center, which is piled high with snow. It is a typical Hanover December day, gray skies and the mealy snow covers the icy crust. We look forward to spring and our reunion, when we will have the chance to talk to you. Many of you have sent me cards which I will share with you.
From Plum, "May Peace of Mind be yours for the holidays and for the rest of your life. A Peace that gives one a feeling of contentment money cannot buy, that keeps a disappointment from being magnified into a disaster and converts our worries into timely action when action becomes necessary. My health is excellent along in this 93rd year, seldom see one of the doctors, haven't missed a meal so far this year, take my exercise every day for an hour or more. However, I still realize Old Man Time has me on his schedule. This Holiday Greeting is to let you know the world is treating me as well as can be expected and I hope it is treating you even better."
From Tony Dalrymple in behalf of Dal and herself, "How I wish we could go to Hanover next June, but it looks doubtful." From Warren and Hazel Wells, "There seems no possibility of making the 1972 reunion. Warren doesn't do very much away from his big chair, hasn't driven in nine years and I'm not up to such a trip." From Chet Studwell, a beautiful card and greetings to all. From Herb Parker, another beautiful card with Christmas Wishes and "Deep Regards".
From Hermon Farwell, "Unless we use the kind of oil That keeps the lamps of friendship bright We'll find our lives just lonely toil Without a ray of sheering light.
I still am busy every day A habit years have yet to spoil.
But now this card must speed its way, Because it's time to check the oil."
And lastly, there's a beautiful card from Frank Drake. May you all have a great 1972, which will include a Hanover trip.
