I'm still gleaning news from the Christmas mail. Thanks to all of you who sent notes and pictures with your cards, so that we could keep up with '6ss "around the girdled earth."
The card that came the farthest was from Vic Mair, wife Li-ching, and son Thomas Krishna, who live at Tunghai University on Taiwan.
Ken McGruther writes that he and Lis are settled in South Bend, Indiana, after six years in the Navy. They welcomed Kammarin James, their first, on November 18 Ken is in the marketing department of Associates Financial Services Co. in South Bend. They returned to Hanover for the Penn game last October along with the Steve Farrows (Newport, R. I.) and the Frank Hankins (Franklin Lakes, N. J.).
Jerry Putnam is a pulmonary fellow at Georgetown University Hospital in D C. He and Jane are living in Rockville, Md., and had their first child, Michael Ross, last July. Jerry sees Tom Wise a lot—he s a psychiatric resident at Georgetown.
The University of Michigan is the beneficiary of a transfusion of Big Green spirit in the person of Davis Blaine. He writes that the Wolverines have definitely won his loyalties, and he and Donna traveled to the Rose Bowl to demonstrate their enthusiasm. Dave and some business colleagues founded American Valuation Consultants last spring. Their company provides appraisal services for businesses to value property, etc.
Ted and Ann Atkinson celebrated Christmas early with the arrival of Theodore William, their first, on November 27. They recently bought a new home in Wayzata, Minn., and Ted is happy at General Mills in Minneapolis, where he is Product Manager in New Snack Ventures.
The Phil Bergers are living in Los Altos, Calif., while he completes his residency in psychiatry at the Stanford University Hospital. They added Tamara Louise on August 11
Tuck School gave George Wittreich his MBA last June, and he promptly signed on with Boston Financial Technology Group. He and Gail live in Winchester, Mass., with their first child, Geoffrey Averill, born on September 11.
Dave Wagner has recently taken up the reins as controller at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N. Y. He and Ellen are living in Rhinebeck, N. Y.
University Hospital in Cleveland is the location of Jim Markworth's residency in orthopedics. The Markworths' second son, Christopher John, was born in September.
Frank Hershenson is now house counsel for Glenn Turner Enterprises in Orlando, Fla. Turner Enterprises is a conglomerate operating approximately sixty subsidiaries ranging from cosmetics to motels. Frank should be plenty busy, as, according to the year-end issue of Life magazine, Mr. Turner, "a quick money evangelist," has had legal proceedings brought against him in 30 states. Good luck, Frank!
Jim Dealing, just back from two years of study and research in East Africa, is now teaching African history at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant. His wife Liz is also teaching.
Dr. Kent Salisbury is finishing up a stint at the National Institute of Health in Washington, D. C., and is looking forward to returning to Boston for a two-year cardiology fellowship at Mass. General Hospital. He and Martha had their second daughter, Elizabeth Carol, in late October
Marriage news comes from Mark Nackman, who tied the knot with Miss Judith Goldsmith on September 5, 1971. She is a research psychologist, while he teaches American History at Hunter College.
The class gathering held after the Princeton game in Tigertown was a great success, so much so that it will probably become a regular '65 festivity. On the morning of the game the class executive committee met and selected Steve Waterhouse as our new Class Agent. We also allotted the money to begin the Class' memorial book program.
Roger Rines reports that nearly 300 members of the Class have paid their 1971-72 dues. If you haven't chipped, please send a check to Roger today.
Finally, now that you're getting established residentially and professionally I hope you will become active in your local Dartmouth alumni club. There are 143 clubs throughout the world, and they are very much involved with Dartmouth business, particularly enrollment, but also more and more clubs are in service to their communities. A great way to productively channel Big Green enthusiasm—the College can give you the address of your local club.
