This makes the last column before Reunion. Folks, it's been a very quick ten years.
Class Officers Weekend was held in Hanover on May 4 and 5. In attendance were John Schiffman, Dick Hoffman, and Don Samuelson. Don reports things are moving along very well for the event and asked you be alerted to the following.
1. That reunion poster of ours featuring John Mussman (known as low flying art) won the Chicago Art Council Award and is now on display at the civic center and other spots in the Windy City.
2. Get your reservations in for the Mini College (Prepare for a couple of tests.)
3. There will be a showing of films taken at the fifth reunion. (For those with a lapse of memory.)
4. Bill Aydelott, brother of Gordi Aydelott and a senior at the College will spend some time with us, hopefully enlightening us as to what's happening.
5. Facilities will be available for children. Just let us know how many and what ages. (John Wilkinson and I decided the College wasn't ready for ours yet.)
6. Any questions at all, call Dave Orr at the College. (1-603-646-2647)
The Hoffmans hosted a pre-reunion gathering out in Northbrook, Ill., (speed skating capital of the world). In attendance were John Mussman, Mike Coffield, Hal Bryant, Don Samuelson, Bill Obenshain, Charlie Balch, Roger Rainville, and some others. All plan on attending the Reunion with the exception of Hal Bryant who did, however, indicate a willingness to serve as reunion chairman for the fifteenth.
Jim Hale also hosted a pre-reunion gathering in Minneapolis. No reports on the turn out.
All of you interested in serving as an officer of this group, contact John Knight who is heading up the nominating committee. (John may be the loneliest person over the weekend.)
A delightful letter was received from Von and Carol Beebe who are basking in the Florida sun in Coconut Grove. Von spent the first years after Dartmouth teaching Spanish, coaching and counselling in the public school systems of California and New York. Now it's Doctor Beebe, as the Gun earned his doctorate in educational administration at Columbia University. Presently Von is principal of a bilingual elementary school in Miami. Carol adds to the academic environment as a speech pathologist for the U. of Miami in a comprehensive health care program in a poverty area. (That sounds worth a few more lines, Carol; care to fill us in?)
The Beebes have maintained a close relationship with Lou and Piag Setti, who are currently visiting Piag's family in Thailand. (Nice place to be this time of year.) Thank you, Von.
George Saj sent on a note from Vietnam where he spends his time as a surgeon at the 95th Evac. Hospital in Da Nang. George reports he won't make the Reunion, but is hoping to return to a surgical practice in N. Y. or N. J. next winter, and to settle down with Martha and their three daughters.
See you in a month. In the meantime keep, building the Alumni Fund. The College is an exciting place these days, and needs our support.
