BEWARE! Polymyalgia Rheumaticus is at large. As the name denotes, it is "Much Muscle-Pain Arthritis." It attacks only the aged. Your secretary had a visit from the culprit for two months last spring. Fortunately our Maine family doctor spotted the rascal at once; confirmed it by a blood test; and prescribed a cheap pill that routed it immediately; like a New Testament miracle.

Harold (Doc) Bond's widow, Alice Dixon Bond, tossed away last May. She was for many years book editor and critic for the old Boston Herald and Traveler and renowned throughout New England. Her success in her field was tremendous and lasting. She will be sorely missed by book-lovers everywhere. Her son Harold L. Bond '42 is Professor of English at Dartmouth.

John Norris, due to Anne's failing eyesight, rarely ever goes out except to shop for "the groceries and attend Sanitary District Commission meetings. With his daughter and three teenage grandchildren with them, plus a dog and ten cats, there is plenty of activity about. He says he still smokes cigarettes, pipe, and cigars and hasn't tried anything else yet.

Hart Leonard, whom I resurrected last year, after years of silence, acknowledged our letter-writing spree with a card showing the Phoenix, Ariz., motel he stops at every winter to take in the horse and dog races. He just renewed his drivers license in his 86th year.

Ben Livingston writes "Many thanks for your thoughtful birthday card. It seems to me that the birthdays are coming around faster and faster for those of us still left in the Class but I'm afraid there isn't much we can do to slow them down. It's interesting to know that 62 years out of college one of every eight who entered is still alive. But is that good or bad. Since we have so little control over such matters I suppose we must deem ourselves lucky and make the most of the years left to us. Warm regards."

Troy Parker reported the Indian situation is still boiling after the "Wounded Knee" situation. With the "Sun Dance Festival" in the offing he was much concerned in August. His granddaughter, a smart, capable girl, was all aflitter about having been accepted at Dartmouth. She was earning some cash driving a tractor, helping with the haying; just the type Dartmouth needs.
