Here it is October and we have not yet been able to pin down a newsletter editor to take the place of John Stearns who died on July 14.
The Class is greatly indebted to Roger Evans who preceded John as class secretary and who so ably stepped in the breach when John's increasing weakness made it necessary for his load to be lightened.
And so, with the help of Elsie Stearns, it has been possible to continue to find material for a monthly newsletter and magazine column for the present time. But Roger feels rightly that he must, in turn, be relieved of these chores not later than November and he has given adequate notice to that effect. He has also indicated that the "bottom of the barrel has been scraped" and that there just isn't any more class news to print in spite of his pleas to the Class to send him some. He has sent in the copy for the October newsletter, and there are at hand only two letters from classmates for future use.
We all recognize that it will be impossible to really replace John Stearns but I hope that we will soon be able to announce the name of a classmate who is willing to try.
