The annual fall meeting of the Executive Committee and unofficial reunion is over as you no doubt know from reading Tithe. It is encouraging to note that there were more classmates and wives attending than ever before and it was good to see a number of new participants. The weather cooperated beautifully along with the fall foliage colors to make for a fine weekend. Unfortunately, the game left something to be.desired but we did sit in the east stands in our shirtsleeves and get a tan. If you like the fall in New England and lots of pleasant company, you might think of next year and probably the second weekend in October.
To summarize the class meeting; the Class is solvent; and as yet has not found any project in Hanover which is considered suitable for the extra amount we have been collecting, so EdHigbee has continued to keep all extra money in interest-bearing deposits. Paul Guibord reported an increase in class members who are making provision for the College in their estate planning. The class tour to Greece and the Greek Islands leaves New York May 7, 1974 under the leadership of Bill and Anna Wyman, staying in Athens then sailing on the 11th for a week including Turkey and other island stops. If you are interested contact Bill at 91 Main St. Concord Mass. 01742 before all places are filled.
In case you don't read the club news in the Alumni Magazine I noted the names of ChuckDelbridge and AI Momenee at a big party held by the Detroit Alumni Club. Al is or has just been that club's president. Chuck is a lawyer and real estate broker in Detroit. He has two daughters in school in Birmingham, Mich. He had a perfect record of reunion attendance until he missed our last, which he has regretted ever since.
Haven't had many comments on the directory however Alan Beetle points out that on his page there are Drs. Barden, Barker, and Benezet, and if we revise again it should be Dr. Beetle (Ph.D. U. of California Berkeley, 1941). Sorry Alan, but I can only print what I have on the record of what someone tells me and 1 suspect there are many others where the information is incorrect or incomplete. Alan is Professor of Range Management at the University of Wyoming and has property in Mexico where he is looking forward to retirement.
A note from George McCleary tells of a summer of travel for him and Nancy. They spent the first of the summer in Little Compton, R.I., where they have a summer home then from mid-June to late August in Iceland, Luxem- bourg, Belgium, France, and mostly in Ireland. They returned to Asheville, N.C., in time to hear from Jane and Niels Nielsen and meet them for golf and to promise to return. George is retired from a career in the paper business with Olin Mathieson. He and Nancy have three sons, Ben in N.Y.C. with Chemical Bank, Joel an American History teacher in Virginia, and George Jr. a senior at Boston U.
Lou and Kathy Welt live in Detroit where Lou is Communications Manager for Scans Associates, Inc., a company which designs and manufactures sophisticated testing equipment for industry. Their two daughters, Linda and Lois live in Dallas where Linda is raising two sons and Lois is a secretary. From Tulsa, Okla., comes a note from Bob Stokes. Bob works for the city of Tulsa in the Management, Systems, and Planning Dept. We have very little other current information but the last we knew, he and Janice had two sons and a daughter.
Roger Bayles reports that he is looking forward to the end of "undergraduate life" when son Jimmy graduates this year from Dartmouth. Oldest son Dick graduated in '66 while David went to Indiana U. Jimmy has been a mainstay of the College swimming team while in Hanover. Rog is executive vp finance for Home Insurance Co. and Lois is very active in the New Canaan, Conn., Historical Society.
Recent conversations with our Tithe editors indicate that they too are suffering from a lack of current information on the Class so I'll end with the regular request that you hear too frequently let us know what is going on with you. If you go to a meeting or play golf or travel or whatever and run into another '36er, put in on a postcard so we can pass it along. You may not think it interesting but your friends do.
Although this is being written just before the Yale game, I'll wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and if you send out Xmas news letters, put me on your mailing list.
