We've been getting more than our share of bad news lately although there are some compensating items sprinkled in. We have lost yet another good classmate, Carl Gram, who died of a heart attack at the Racquet and Tennis Club in New York February 16. We have written Anne and await her word so our notice herein will not appear until next month. We extend to her and the family our heartfelt sympathy.

On the brighter side we hear of Bill Breitinger's progress which is very slow but very steady. At the time of his cerebral hemorrhage at Thanksgiving time the outlook was highly questionable. In the meantime he was removed from the hospital to the Institute for Rehabilitation, RFD 1, Box 250, Reading, Pa. 19605, where they specialize in such cases with almost unbelievable results. As this is written (end Feb) he has come from zero to the following: attention span 20 minutes, understands vaguely what happened and where he is, can walk with assistance 60 feet although his right leg is dragging some, feeds himself with his left hand and is trying desperately to talk. He can read and immensely enjoys cards and letters as well as now recognizing people. There's still a long way to go but he s fighting all the way. He's a great guy so keep the cards and letters coming, Jean says he loves them and it is marvelous therapy.

Our recent decision to establish a memorial book program has prompted letters of apprecia- tion, naturally indicating they should be directed to the Class. Jane Handrahan describes it as most heart-warming and an everlasting tribute adding that John's love of Dartmouth and his many wonderful memories of his days there always affected her profoundly. Also the many kindnesses of his classmates and college friends have and always will be very comforting to her. John and Jane met while both were working at Equitable Life and she returned there after John died to become a first class sales person and is finding it excellent therapy. She has moved to a new home at 114 Remington Lane, Kingsbridge Shores, RFD 2, Buzzards Bay, Mass. 02532.

You will recall that Walter Ross, who died in 1970, had been married about a year to Virginia who wrote of her pregnancy and looking forward to naming the "boy" Walter Jr. whom of course he would never see. She decided against this and chose the name Tommy. With her thank you note re the book program she enclosed a picture of him now two years old and he's absolutely the spitting image of Walter's picture in the Aegis and cute as a button. She continues to get mail from the College which she very much appreciates.

John Maloon's mother is the only one left in the family and she expresses her thanks to all saying she finds comfort in the knowledge her grief is shared by so many of John's friends.

Finally, a wonderful letter from George Roewer thanking us for ours concerning Peggy's passing. He ends it saying, "Looking back we had a great marriage of 35 years which started at Green Key senior year on the QT. A guy can't "ask for much more."

We got a picture of Mary and Fran Fenn taken on their recent trip out Pacific way and Japan. The two are shown consorting with a giant sea turtle and the message says "Greetings from the Dartmouth Club of the Galapagos Islands" poin- ting out that Fran is the one in the middle. We would not put it past them that we find Mr. Turtle in his swimming pool next summer. Hey Bosworth, ask Fran if he's a turtle!

Carl Noyes was elected first vice president of the Merchants National Bank of Manchester, N.H. His former duties there were in the commercial loan area but now he has overall charge of loan activities as well as coordinating activities of all departments. He joined that bank in 1958 following tours with Chase Manhattan, Haverhill, Mass., and Indian Head Bank in Nashua.

Finally we have notice of the marriage of SidLansburgh to Natalie Weinstein December 23 at the Waldorf Towers in New York City. Congratulations from us all.
