On March 16 40 undergraduates from Dartmouth College finished their foreign language study program here and returned to Hanover to resume their regular studies. This program, now in its second successful year, is associated with the Experiment in International Living and has been made possible with the help and cooperation of Dr. Ignacio Bernal, Director of the National Institute of Anthropology and History, and Dr. Fernando Camara Barbachano, sub-director.

Since January 5 the Dartmouth undergraduates had been living with Mexican families, making field trips, and attending classes at the Museum of Anthropology, fulfilling the Dartmouth academic requirements for the winter semester. During this period, Dr. Frank Janney from the Department of Romance Languages at Dartmouth and Dr. David Gregory, professor of Anthropology at Dartmouth, were in Mexico City to offer supervision to the students and help with the coordination of the program as well as teach some of the courses at the museum. Dr. Barbachano and other eminent Mexican professors complemented the studies with courses to include the culture and history of Mexico.

.Dr. Gregory and Dr. Janney were honored at a cocktail party given by the Dartmouth Club of Mexico. They stated that they are confident the program will continue as a successful means of giving strong academic emphasis to the study of the language and culture of Mexico and as a basis for better understanding between our two cultures. Both expressed gratitude for the cooperation received from Dr. Bernal and local staff who were instrumental in making the program a success.

Some 40 Dartmouth students who spent the winter term in Mexico, as well as visiting Prof.rank Janney of the Romance Languages Department and Emeritus Prof. Herbert W. Hill,Were entertained by the Dartmouth Club of Mexico at the home of Barbara and JesseLichter 30, shown in the center foreground.
