JUNE 1973 ROBERT REED GRAY, FREDERICK R. LENT

Herewith the last column for the publication year. With luck, next year should be a little less hectic and hopefully the silent majority will write to your secretary over the summer to establish a backlog of news.

To start with, Wah-Hoo-Wah for FredStockwell who received an Alumni Award "in recognition of his services to his community and his college." As you who are regular readers of this column know, Fred has had a long history of service including YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, The United Fund, Goodwill Industries and most recently, Chairman of the Environmental Quality Task Force in Boston. He has been particularly active in College affairs in the Boston area, a member of the Alumni Council and the Board of Overseers of the Hanover Inn. He was also secretary of the Class from 1946 to 1948.

Honors also go to Jack Behringer of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who has been elected chairman of the Port Everglades Commission. Up in snow country Jim Oppenheimer has been elected director of the Northwestern National Bank of St. Paul, Minn. In his spare time, Jim is a partner in the law firm of Oppenheimer, Wolff, Foster Shepard & Donnelly; a director of Blandin Paper Co., Grand Rapids, Minn.; a trustee of the Tozer Foundation, Stillwater, Minn.; a former president of the St. Paul Rotary Club, Metropolitan St. Paul Hospital Planning Council, and Minnesota Association for Mental Health.

Jumping back to Florida, Dr. Bob Craig, now of Fernandina Beach, Fla., has offered swimming facilities for classmates driving south through Florida. Bob reportedly saw Kelly Coffin and HudKing in Atlanta.

Current information includes Dr. BradCopeland as chief of pathology at the Deaconess and Baptist Hospital in Boston; Van and GinnyLloyd are closing out the better part of a year living in Europe; Herb Harrigan retired from the Philadelphia Inquirer and is with the SarasotaHerald Tribune. He reports no graffiti, muggings, or the like. Drex Godfrey, currently of Dauphin, Pa., is, to the best of our information, teaching.

Bus Mosbacher is now a trustee of the New York Yacht Club - as he puts it "an elder statesman no less" and reports doing a great deal of traveling particularly to Europe, California, and Texas. In his spare time. Bus is on the boards of the Chubb Corp., Dollar Savings Bank, United Merchants and Manufacturers, and a member of the Chemical Bank Advisory Board. And if we have not reported it earlier, George Monroe, president and chief executive officer of Phelps Dodge Corporation, was elected a director of Southern Pacific Co. (San Francisco), a railroad holding company.

As a final word of advice, now is the time to make plans for the informal reunion next fall on October 12-13. Contact Paul Young at 2 Barrett Road, Hanover, N.H. 03755.

Have a good summer.
