Our 11 living men contributed 100 percent to the Alumni Fund with a total of almost $2,500. Last year we did not make $2,000 so this represents a 25 percent increase. Considering that our youngest will be 91 this fall and our oldest 94, this is quite a remarkable record. The roster is Balph, Blatner, Brown, Chase, Elliott, Falconer, Hills, Hodgman, Knight, Lill, and White.

With only one exception we are in reasonable good health. The most recent death in the Class was that of John Bell in January of this year. The top classes in percentage in the veteran group are 1902, 1901, 1905, 1907, 1906, and 1903 and in cash they rank 1907, 1903, 1910, 1905, 1908, and 1903.

The outstanding performance of the year was made by our widows, most of whom made very substantial gifts. In addition they pay for the Alumni Magazine.

It is my sad duty to report the death on July 24 of Ann Reid. Until June she had been quite well and living with her sister in Hull. The Reids had no children. Ann sold the home at Cranes Beach a few years ago. I called her sister who is not in very good health.

Another of our widows, Ruth Goodrich, is in a Laconia nursing home. Her son calls on her frequently.

Leon Smith's estate was settled last year when prices on blue chip stocks were at their highest ever. '05 received two checks which have been added to Leon's gift of 1952 to make the present total close to $50,000. The Walter B. Small Fund has a value of just under $60,000.

Robert Falconer sent his class dues and added "Still confident we are going to be in Hanover in June 1975." This is what we are all aiming for. C. C. Hills reports he is still waiting for his cataracts to develop, perhaps the last of this year. With the help of a magnifying glass he can read the paper. His address is now Pennflora Hotel, 443 Second Ave. North, St. Petersburg, Fla. 33701. Telephone is 1-813-823-4763.

Fred Chase has also been having cataract trouble. He underwent a very successful operation for the removal of one in May. He has a handyman who drove him around locally for shopping and to his barber. He now has a white beard which he keeps well trimmed.

Mrs. Mary Hayes (daughter of our PercyLadd) writes that her daughter Liz was married August 24 and is currently on a tour of the West before sojourning in San Antonio for three months while her husband David is on Army duty. When that is done they will return home to Reading, Pa. Daughter Margaret enrolls at the University of Montana around September 22. Husband Fred had a heart attack on June 2, but he's fine now. As added excitement, the second day he was allowed to drive a car, it caught fire and was a complete loss.

Reunion plans: We are planning for our best possible Reunion in June of 1975. Our headquarters will be at the Hanover Inn. The College will bear part of our expenses and the Class of 1905 has a good-sized reserve fund, so that anyone needing financial help will be amply taken care of. Send me your ideas.

Ernest White '05 received a print of Dartmouth Hall at a summer meeting of the MaineClub. With him is son John '45 and grandson Nathaniel (I) who chose Weslyan for hiscollege. At right is Maine club president Michael Daley '60.
