We regret that the Class has lost five of its men and three of its widows since last spring: Hyman Abraham, Thomas L. Bradford Jr., Wallace Kittredge, Carl Eskeline, Charles J. Taylor, Mrs. Alexander Dean, Mrs. Paul W. Richardson, and Mrs John F. Gile.
The Class made a wonderful showing at the Post-50 Reunion by having more of its members present than any other Post-50 Reunion class - a grand attendance of 33. The final event of the affair was a trip into northern Vermont to the farm of Parker Hayden, our president, who really has a hideaway two miles off the highway into what was called when Dartmouth was started "a wilderness" but today is two miles on a one-way road in the deep woods.
One of the great pleasures of the Reunion was the welcoming into our class of Polly (Mrs. Daniel S.) Dinsmoor and Jessie (Mrs. Frank G.) Pettengill.
Fletch Andrews is well over his recovery from the broken hip and was the principal speaker at his law school alumni dinner.
Thanks to Tog Upham we learn that the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was authored by one of his forebears, James Bailey Upham, when he was working for the Youth's Companion in Boston as part of the program for the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America.
Hiram and Laura McLellan made a complete tour by ship of the western end of the Mediterranean, stopping at 23 ports with their many shore trips.
Burt Lowe was awarded the Fred Howland Trophy by the Alumni Fund Council as outstanding head agent over 40 years out of college for his work on the 1973 Alumni Fund. This year on the 1974 Alumni Fund Burt led the Class to a new record winner of the Green Derby in Group 1.
