Friends, it has recently been discovered that there are, in fact, three inevitable happenstances of modern civilization, the third being at least slightly less forbidding than the original two. We refer of course to the Dartmouth Class Reunion - more frequent, more irresistable than the seven-year itch. Come nine months or so and we're all invited to get on down - or up - to Hanover for a little serious movin' and scratchin' in the grand old tradition under those spacious and comfortable green canopies which will be so miraculously builded on Eleazar's plain. June 13, 14, and 15 of next year are the dates. Somewhere out there our Reunion Committee is rummaging around for tent stakes and when they find enough they'll announce the grand scheme. Plan now to attend. This should be something special.

In the interim, get a load of this poop from ex-dean Gary Brooks, who finds himself back at Yale Law School after two years as the Rasputin of Fraternity Row.

"Carlos Ordonez is back in the country after spending several years working for Proctor and Gamble in Venezuela. He and Kathy have two boys and when Carlos isn't working at his advertising firm in New York, he is doing commercial photography. Most recently he did a test lay-out for Penthouse Magazine! (Is that anything like a trial marriage?)

"Larry Stephens has taken a job with the legal department of Merrill, Lynch in New York after graduating from Harvard Law School. His brother Paul is Assistant Dean of Freshmen at Dartmouth. Lou Young has gone west to California with his wife Mary to teach and coach at the Robert Louis Stevenson School in Pebble Beach. Peter "Sunshine" Robinson and his wife Deb just had a baby boy, Peter II. P I is currently in Vero, Beach, Fla., developing a tract of land.

"Dick and Anne Morton are in Korea, where Dick is serving in.the JAG. They have an apart- ment in Seoul (where they were married this past June) and Dick commutes to Camp Stanley. He graduated from BU Law School in June '73."

Two '70s working for the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford at last count were William H. White and Ric Shaw. Three gentlemen who until recently at least had ongoing relations with Harvard Business School were Lenny Banos, Dave Rowe and Mark Arnold.Greg Nemetz has been for the past four years Director of Theater at the Northfield Mt. Hermon School in Massachusetts.

Snippet of correspondence from one Mike Brown to the class treasurer: "I got married last spring to one of the girls I was with in New Orleans when I last saw you. (yeah Mike, but which girl?) I'm teaching high school mathematics in Dallas."

The Honorable James V. Aukerman continues to take advantage of our gutless, jelley-spined editor to use the column as a political posting place. Seems Auk is a candidate for reelection to a third term in the Rhode Island House this November. Writes he, "My Republican opponent will be a woman, which has given rise to suggestions of such campaign slogans as 'may the best man win.' " He assures us that he does not plan to use such. Auk further reports that a fifth anniversary get-together was held for Don and Gina Balcom at their summer cottage on Caspian Lake in Northern Vermont. Present were Bill and Wendy Sewall, PrestonConklin and friend, and Stu Zuckerman (What, no "friend" Stu? Har har har.)

Dave Young, who has been with the bank since 1971, has been named a corporate services officer in the deposit and corporate services division of the First National Bank of Boston. Dave attended University of Virginia Law School. In 1969 he was a summer intern for Senator William B. Spong Jr., Democrat of Virginia and in 1971 he was a delegate to the White House Conference on Youth. Dave lists as current memberships Boston Urban Bankers Forum, Boston Youth Motivation Inc., and last but not least the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Greater Boston.

By the time this doggerel appears, LarryKillgallon will no longer be a single man, having apparently irrevocably taken it into his head to marry. Who, What, When and Where to be faithfully reported next time.

This morning I am the much saddened recipient of tragic news. Classmate RobertClark of Grafton died August 17 in Thailand, the victim of an assault and robbery. An obituary will appear in either this or the subsequent issue. Contributions to the Bob Clark Scholarship Fund can be made care of the Mascoma Valley Dollars for Scholars, attention Mrs. Patricia Eastman, Canaan. To Bob's parents, grandparents, and three sisters the Class expresses its sympathy. We share in a sense of profound loss. Among Bob's close friends there must be a special respect for the example which he has left, and in which we all may participate as we plan to return next spring to his North Country which became our North Country.
