When we wrote last month's heart-rending plea for mail we forgot that this column was due before the October issue came out... which is a contorted way of saying that this month's column finishes off the mailbag.

Bruce Hathaway, who graduated belatedly (as he puts it) in 1973, has been appointed personnel director for the City of Burlington. Bruce and his wife, the former Pamela Whitehill, recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary. Pam was a Mary Hitchcock student and is the daughter of Alvin Whitehill '37 and sister of Austin '76. The whole mob can occasionally be seen at football games, which points out one of the advantages of living in Burlington.

So much for the news. Now on to the social pages: Mike Welch, now at Albany Medical College, married Anne Sweeney way back in August. Anne is teaching in Troy and working toward a Master's degree.

Another August wedding was that of Bob Joy and Jeanne Hughes; now we know why Bob always had that sly grin on his face. Jeanne graduated from Emmanuel and is with the Mass. Department of Public Welfare; Bob is allegedly working hard at B.C. Law School.

Phil Ruegger and Becky Huffman are next on the list; those of you who are alert will note that this is a followup from last issue. Unfortunately all we can tell you is that Becky graduated from U. Va., where Phil went to law school. Ruegger's always away from his desk at Simpson Thatcher (or else he's censoring the details).

A mini-reunion of recent classes occurred in Philadelphia over the weekend of August 31 at the wedding of Ron Hoffmaster and Nancy Borkowski. Ron, who works in personnel/hiring for the City of Philly, was ably ushed by JohnEaton, Rod Morgan and yours truly; fortunately none of the ushers had to take the Hal's soup spoon test. Also in attendance were Jim Smith,Jeff McElnea (bemoaning the loss of his green derby) and Don Eberly. Since we're short this month it can be told that the best man was Barry Hoffmaster '69, and other guests included Jack Foley '69, John Spooner '69, Larry Brown '03 (or '67?), John Nelson '72, Jay Worthen '72, Rick Greenburg '72, Pete Thomson '72 and the mysterious Page.

Returning to our normal programming, CurtWelling and Kathy Hutchins were married on August 25. Curt is in his third year at Vanderbilt Law; Kathy, a Wells graduate, is on the staff at the same University. Gene Elrod was Curt's best man and the ushers included Phil Ruegger and Donn Tyler. We have no reports on AlkSeltzer sales over that weekend.

Finally, we offer relief for those of you tired of reading about grooms with desk jobs. Rick Bourdon married Lucie Sides on September" (she's Skidmore '72). They're living on Rapid Canyon Ranch in Sheridan, Wyo., Rick raises purebred Red Angus breeding stock Sounds purty good to someone sitting in a Fun. City apartment.

That's it for this month. Keep those cards and letters coming or we'll start making up dings. Blessings.
