Christmas comes but once a year. We of 08 have reason to rejoice. Our beloved president, Roland Chesley, having departed, we confidently announce his successor, Allan Moore Perkins, The Prospect, 400, La Jolla, Cal. 92037
Pop Chesley's secretary, Mrs. Mary S. Hobbes, has kindly presented us with a copy of a complete memorial and biography of "Pop," as published in the Rochester (N.H.) Courier, May 20, 1974. It occupies no less than 20 inches of column space. Names of friends, associates, classmates fill the text. One such bears briefing here. In the same way that we of 'OB knew of pop's devotion to his mother until her death in 1942, he so kept touch with his first schoolteacher, Mrs. (Blaisdell) Shaw, now 98 years of age,the oldest person in W. Lebanon. She had taken a keen interest in Pop's work all of his life. This account will accompany others in the permanent files of the College.
Mrs. Hobbes added this: "The Summer Festival was a great success this year. Mr. Chesley made most of the arrangements."
In sorrow again, we announce the passing of a loyal classmate, Harold B. Cogswell, who died in an Arlington, Mass., hospital after a six-week illness. On behalf of his classmates, deep sympathy is tendered his widow Helen. An obituary will be found on another page of this edition.
A correction is due of the address of Warren (Chick) Currier. It should be P. O. Box 1301. La Jolla, Cal. 92037. Chick is reported to be about the same, settled down in the convalescent home and dresses himself every morning. He goes out for walks and errands, church, dinners, etc.
Walter Furman was discharged from the hospital in Princeton on October 19 after nearly five months. He is still burdened with bits of heavy hardware. There is no place like home, Walter, where your condition will improve rapidly.
