Our calendar indicates that today is December 25, Phil's successor has not been announced, and notes for the 1915 column have to meet a lead line of January 2 in Hanover, so we are subbing again for the unknown secretary. Phil has sent on a few suggestions which we will try to use judiciously. The first of these is the desire of Phil and Til to express in this column their sincere appreciation for the numerous Christmas cards they received from so many of their classmates and class widows.

At the moment of writing Phil reports, "in New York we are in a deep freeze - 19 degrees above zero and lower tonight. Also we have had quite a bit of snow. Our holidays will be quiet and peaceful for we no longer do all the things we used to do including decorating." Amen to that, Phil. Incidentally, a subsequent phone call was made to them and it was very rewarding, as from the tone of their voices we concluded that they were related and comfortably awaiting The Day.

A card from Bob and Millie Fredericks expressed the hope that "you are feeling as well as can be expected at our tender years." From Herb and Kay Potter, "we join with all the rest who wish you nothing but the best. How about coming down to see us, where sunshine spends the winter (El Paso)? Julie Potter confirmed our impression that both Herb and Kay had discarded the leg casts that they had been forced to wear following similar accidents.

Joe Pitman writes that they made one of their infrequent trips to visit his home town of Laconia, N.H., this fall. They went via Hanover and Woodsville, where he had a good visit with Hal Davison, lawyer, banker and retired politician. In last month's column we cited RuthCrance on her way to Florence from Rome, Italy. She reports that she arrived OK. The highlight of her visit there was Dartmouth Night staged in a castle on the outskirts of Florence (Firenze) with students and professors from Dartmouth and partaking of an Italian dinner, never to be forgotten. We expect a continuing travelogue will be forthcoming following her Christmas visit in Atlanta, and then from Denver (January 2) where she will be visiting part of her family till spring. Ralph and EstherBrown sent greetings from Maine. Ralph expressed relief that he had just passed his 81st birthday, or as his son-in-law computerized him to be 29,565 days old. Ralph prefers 81 - it is easier to remember. They are in Tucson as you read this note. Jack Johnson hopes that the Murdocks are OK. "Not much change in our situation - still plugging along, hanging in there, watching each day go by."

Shorty and Margaret Gray are very thankful for the good health they enjoy. "We have had very little 'truck' with the medical profession this year beyond paying our monthly dues to the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. No contact with '15ers this year except a letter from George Martin - what a job he is doing." Phil's twin, George Ingalls, sends seasons greetings and reported that he had taken a boat trip of six weeks in November, touching at interesting ports in Spain and Portugal. Proof that this column is read was established when we received one inquiry regarding the circumstances of the soaking George Martin and Kike Richardson got at the Princeton game (noted in the January issue.) They did take complete rain gear from boots to hats, but they took issue with the local weather prophets and left all their gear in the hotel - and, did it rain at the game! Fog in Littleton, N.H. may foretell sunny weather, but not in N.Y.
