It is with regret that we record the death of Brian Abbott, on October 3, 1973. Brian spent two years with us at Dartmouth before transferring to the Bentley School of Accounting and Financing in Boston. A memorial piece was written by his mother and appears in this issue. Mrs. Abbott Sr. had done the same upon the death of her husband Royal K. Abbott ’09.
Union Camp Corp. has promoted Skip Morse to vice president, purchasing. Skip has been with Union Camp since 1955 and is a past president of the Purchasing Management Association of New York. He was this year's recipient of that association's J. H. Leonard award presented annually to the member who "is contributing most to the growth, development and professional stature of the organization." Skip also served a trick as the Mayor of Easton, Pa. from 1952 to 1955, after having been voted the "man of the year” by the Easton Junior Chamber of commerce in 1951.
It is hard to keep up with the doings of Bert MacMannis and energetic Sally, but the truth is we are very late with a report on the marriage of their daughter Marcia to William Thomas Fallon Jr. On October 20. We had to be elsewhere on that date but have learned from classmates of the highly satisfactory celebration
Moreau Brown writes to set us straight on our December report (properly updated in January). In his communication he refers to sitting next to Bill Tucker at the Princeton game, and seeing Bill Tompkins and Dick Ruebling. Also refers to a lunch with Joe Hoover in Joe's bailiwick of North Canton. Ohio. Joe has a son at Dartmouth, and a daughter looking in the direction of Hanover in her senior year at Abbot-Andover.
There is a reason why your scribe was never considered as a Senior Fellow at Dartmouth. We are a slow study. F'rinstance it has taken us some time to realize that as we mature as a class, some of our members maintain two, three, or four homes, and in the course of bouncing from one to another keep us, and the Alumni Records office, working off little green cards, changing addresses with the change of seasons. Take Hack Davenport for one. Last month we reported him moving back to Camp Hill, Pa., and this month another green card indicates he is back at his old stand at 6602 Praying Monk Rd., Paradise Valley, Ariz. 85253. T'aint fair.! We oughta start a union! Doug Farrington has moved from West I slip, L.I. to Box 302, Babylon, N.Y. 11702. Ralph Holben who last month we advised could be reached via an APO number out of NYC, now lists his address as 1 River Ridge Rd., Hanover, N.H. 03755. Is Ralph home at last or is this the sure hometown address? Jim Pattridge has made a street change in Wayzata, Minn. 55391 to 2540 Cedar Ridge Rd.
Warren Pinney now reached at 1160 Mercantile Continental Bldg., Dallas, Tex 75201. Howie Rowe has Box 1922, La Jolla, Calif. 92037 as his new address. Jim Sampson moved to 1115 Wheatland Ave., Apt. G-7, Lancaster, Pa. 17603. Jack Schrage from Arlington Heights, Ill. to .1 Chelsea on Auburn, Rolling Meadows, Ill. 60008. Dick Shaw to 1700 Broadway .1500, Denver, Colo. 80218. Dave Smith can be addressed at 66 East 79th St., New York, N.Y. 10021. Joe Urban from Cambridge, Mass, to the Cape. Ice Valley Rd., Box 354 Osterville, Mass, 02655. Colonel Doug Youngerto 5001 Seminary Rd., Alexandria, Va. 22311. John Bates widow, has moved with her husband Mr. Jack Dee, from South Australia to 5418 Avenida Del Mare, Sarasota, Fla. 33581.
