From the snow belt comes the following letter: "After 16 years of silence it seems time to let my "57 friends know that Jack Cramer is ambulatory and in good health in Snyder, N.Y. (a suburb of Buffalo). You know Buffalo - where O. J. Simpson plays. In fact, it is Christmas Day and I am moved to write after leisurely reading the December Alumni Magazine. The negative information flow in no way reflects my interest in the College as I am active in the local Dartmouth Club and interview prospects regularly.
"The happenings of 16 years would contain too many I's and Me's for comfort, so let's give you our current situation. Liz Kirk, a Skidmore lass, said 'I Do' in 1958 and became a Navy Bride for the last year of an NROTC commitment. We have two daughters, Martha (11) and Jennifer (7). My days are spent as president of Cramer Industrial Supplies - we distribute stuff like grinding wheels, drills, every tool known to man, and occasionally some toilet paper. Liz has gone back to a local college to study art ... we do some community things - United Appeal and Boys Club."
Good to hear from you, Jack.
You remember Bob Sproull, don't you? One of the first of us who "dropped out" from the more accepted vocations and made a smashing success out of The Red Onion in Manhatten? Well, now Bob is again doing his thing in Aspen, where he owns and operates Jake's Restaurant, Bob, Myrna, and their two children, Bobby (8) and Jake (4), enjoy the good life in Colorado - skiing, hiking, etc. Bob regularly sees PeteStone, who operates The Prospector - oldest lodge in Aspen; Gordon Rippey; Bruce Bernstein and Tom Ely, who has started his own computer software company in San Francisco. More on Messrs. Stone and Rippey in the March Column.

If Chris Wren keeps popping up in this space, it's because he's a good correspondent - no pun intended! Chris confirms by letter my guess that he is indeed a Moscow correspondent for TheNew York Times. He writes: "I went out and bought my bona fide foreign correspondent's trenchcoat after I joined the Times foreign staff, but I don't seem to have much use for it. My long red underwear has proved much more practical, along with my skiing socks.
"Moscow has great cross country skiing bread enriched with American wheat at old fashioned prices, good ice cream, great vodka, no energy crisis and a better class of landlord than we had in New York City I miss most: country music, good restaurants and newspaper articles with statistics about fewer than one million people. Oh yes, there are also lots of guys in dark overcoats and flat brimmed hats who take a solicitous interest in where you go and what you do. The Wrens hope to be here at least three years, then off to somewhere else.”

Again, I must pass on some sad news - Rowland P. Pollard passed away in December after a short illness. The March issue will carry an obituary.
