The club has had an active fall and winter, beginning in September with the annual stag (in name only) picnic. Dr. Jim McElhinney '62 and Joe Blake '59 were the main providers of good refreshments and entertainment, including the 1972 football highlights. The November luncheon was well attended with many of the non-regulars showing up. We were fortunate to have Gerald Phipps, board chairman of the Denver Broncos, talk a little about the business of running a pro football organization. His appearance was particularly timely, as the Broncos were in the thick of the Western Division AFC title race.
John Newey '52 has assumed the large responsibility of district enrollment chairman this year. He has rounded up a bumper crop of applicants, and is now waiting for some cooperation from the Admissions Office in order to send a Colorado army to Hanover next fall. We were able to meet some of the applicants as well as talk to some of the undergraduates at the undergraduate luncheon held during the holidays.
As you might expect, there are a few Dartmouth people involved with the ski areas around the state. Chuck Lewis '59, for instance, is president of Copper Mountain Associates, and FredJones '63 recently joined Chuck as manager of the Copper Mountain operation. Chuck was recently honored by ROMCOE (Rocky Moun- tain Conference of the Environment) for "environmental accomplishment by industry,' recognition for his efforts in maintaining an environmental overview during the construction of the Copper Mountain facilities.
Another large group turned out for our January luncheon to learn about the developing Colorado oil shale industry from Hollis Dole of the Colony Development Corp. He was able to provide us with much inside information, including an interesting explanation of the large oil shale tract bidding.
The Club is anticipating the visit of President Kemeny for our annual meeting on April 22. We urge all of our membership to come out to hear the President bring us up to date on the progress and problems of the College.
