The Government Employees Insurance Company recently announced the appointment of Walt Vincent to the newly created position of corporate director of Human Relations which involves responsibility for development of policy, government relations, and liason with GEICO's affiliate companies in matters impacting on the company's 7,500 employees. Walt, his wife Marian and their two children will move from Bristol, Conn., to Silver Spring, Md., as a result of the new job.

Read Heydt left New York City and a public relations position with U.S. Steel to start a real estate business in Tryon, N.C., last fall. He plans to open a second office in town this spring and is in the process of renovating a small cottage in the country outside of Tryon.

Negotiations between Ed and Pat Hobbie are underway to determine how they can attend reunions in Hanover and Ithaca at the same time; Pat is a '59 Cornell graduate. At this point, Ed is hopeful that a solution will be worked out.

Gil Griffin moved last month from Kenyon & Eckhardt to CBS where as vice president, management planning, his responsibilities relate to all CBS division, subsidiary, and corporate personnel. He had previously worked in personnel, legal, and labor relations with both Mobil Oil and Bristol-Myers. Gil's memberships are many - to mention a few: the board of directors of Freedom National Bank, International Radio and Television Society, Council for Concerned Black Executives, American Society for Personnel Administration, and the Interracial Council for Business Opportunity.

And as vice president, finance, and treasurer, Goeff Hands has become a member of Turbodyne Corporation of Minnesota. He was formerly a partner in the international business consulting firm of McKinsey & Company, Inc. and spent the last four years in their Melbourne, Australia, office. The Hands family includes wife Elinor, William, Robert, and Elizabeth, and their recent moves have been from Melbourne to Lake Bluff, Ill., to Minneapolis.

Walt May writes that he "became a pension-finance consultant, affiliated with the Consulting Division of Piper, Jaffray and Hopwood; a Minneapolis-based NYSE member brokerage firm. Bob King joined P.J.H. in early 1973 as V.P.-Head of Institutional sales. He and wife Helen and three kids moved to Minneapolis in March of 1973. Have seen Bob and Linda Helsell in Seattle on recent travels"

Lou Gerber is with the Glendinning Co. and lives in Weston, Conn., with his wife and three children, Randy, 11; Tim, 9; and Lisa 6. Apparently, he has been transferred back from somewhere as his wife writes the family is glad to be back in Connecticut.

I bumped into Joe LaVigna in a Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. elevator last month and a subsequent telephone call revealed that he transferred from investment research responsibilities to the bank's real estate lending subsidiary which specializes in financing middle income housing, civic facilities, hospitals, and other similar projects throughout the U.S. Joe is married and lives in Manhattan, and while his wife is pursuing a Ph.D. in Comprative Literature, he is pursuing the art of winemaking. He reports that Pete Gump is involved in the personnel field in St. John, Newfoundland, and that Al Munro has left Morgan to start his own business.

Bill G. Long left First National City Bank and joined Russell Reynolds Associates, a growing New York City executive placement firm with offices in Chicago, Los Angeles and London. Bill specializes in but is not limited to the financial area and reports that the work is very interesting and challenging. He and his wife and a four-year-old daughter live in Bronxville, N.Y., where has been active in the Dartmouth recruiting effort.

The Aetna Insurance Co. promoted Butch Priest earlier this year but due to an attack of modesty I was only able to extract that the new position is in the company's actuarial department and involves research and development of underwriting policy.

The reunion committee asks that you respond promptly to the latest mailing in order that a head count can be obtained as early as possible. I must admit that Celooz' most recent communication intrigues me and if the activities turn out to be as colorful as his letter, we are in for an unforgettable 15th.
