Paul and Charles H. Jones '23, sons of Charles Henry Jones of the Class of 1873, along with other associates of the late founder of the Commonwealth Shoe and Leather Company of Whitman, Mass., have presented gifts of $1 million to the Tuck School, to endow a Third Century Professorship in memory of their father.
The chair has been dedicated by the Joneses to teaching and scholarship in the area of the "Management of Man." Dean John W. Hennessey Jr., acknowledging the gift, one of the largest in the school's 74. year history, noted that it would deepen Tuck's historic commitment to the human aspects of management in the teaching of future executives.
A search committee has been appointed to identify suitable candidates for the Charles Henry Jones Third Century Professorship.
Paul Jones, a Haverford College graduate,.and Charles, who is president of the Class of 1923, both followed their father into the family business, serving successively as president and chairman 0f the board of the company before their retirements.
