Stu and Audrey May report just having moved family and optical factory from the New York area to Rochester, Mass., near Marion and Cape Cod (Olde Field Farm, 64 New Bedford Road, Rochester 02770 - "it's a real joy").
Anyone who missed Roy Rowan's article, "Cancer: Good News and Bad," in the February Atlantic Monthly should march pronto to his magazine rack or nearest library. This is a wowser of a piece, dealing with a recent personal experience which culminated in recovery from a successful operation. In my pack-rat ways I put the issue in a pile, to be looked at later, during a busy period earlier in '75. Said pile was investigated in August, and I felt rewarded in many ways. Roy continues to be associated with Time and was in Hanover last spring. The piece was written in collaboration with Martin E. Plaut, M.D., and if you cannot find it, and want to read it, just drop me a card.

News from Cincinnati advises of naming of Grant Hesser as a Fellow of American Institute of Constructors, a national professional society of researchers, construction men and educators in that field. Grant was cited for "his efforts to improve college degreed construction education, with the establishment of the American Council for Construction Education." Grant is president of Charles V. Maescher & Co., in the construction field, a past president of the Associated Contractors of Ohio-AGC, of the Dartmouth Club of his city, and of the Gyro Club of Cincy, as well as being a trustee of the local Capital Needs Committee and the Assn. for the Blind. He is one of 15 persons in the industry to receive the honor.
The onset of football reminds me of two earlier notes, from two well-established judges of capabilities in the game, Dr. Monty Winship and Lou Young, regarding last year's season: "win or lose, I have never seen a Dartmouth team fight so hard and play with such spirit" (Lou); "a far better team than their record shows - with a few breaks and a little more finesse they'll be at the top again" (Monty). 'And the latter closed with a note on something else - "hope we have a chance to play tennis again - really a wonderful game, and I wish I had started years ago at college. For the long pull, it's a lot more practical than football."
Notes relayed by Lou: From Paul Mahoney: "Best event of the year was birth of our third grandchild, Rick's wife Linda, having a son. We see them from time to time on visits to Exeter" (Rick is a member of the PEA administration and former secretary of the Class of '65) Jimand Cathy McLellan, long not heard from till coming up from Denville, N.J., for the fall reunion a year ago at Dexter's Inn, weighed in with a greeting to all via a note with class dues check to Lou. He is manager, customer relations and services for Bard-Parker, of Rutherford, N.J.
From Frank Hall: "Sorry to be so late with this - it must have fallen between the chairs somewhere. Still bragging about my 9-year-old daughter, who is a big 4th grader and following 'Mouse' as a piano player. Older daughter Sue is teaching, and married to Brian Chapin, basketball coach at Clarkson College. Still traveling a lot but look forward to seeing you and many others of'41 this fall." From Dr. HonLosee, Ennis, Montana: "played in a bagpipe band at Butte, Montana, in a July 4 parade ('74), behind Evel Kneivel's obscene motorcyle; my knee test for antero-lateral instability is still the best one (in my opinion); we have a granddaughter."
Bill Danforth continues as a principal owner/mgr. of Brewer's Boatyard, West Southport, Me., whose services according to a recent news clip have been greatly enlarged offering just about everything, including a resident sailmaker and a boat upholstery-decor shop. A release from Hanover reports Dr. Quentin Deming, of New York City, is a member of the Alumni Advisory Board of the Dartmouth Public Affairs Center. Bill Clark, he of the eagle-eyed drivers and putters, made a hole-inone (214 yards) in Vermont in June. Having cruised the region many years, Charlie McLane is writing a history of the islands in Maine's Penobscot and Blue Hill bays, news of that jaunty effort arriving just after I had managed to capsize a 5½-foot dinghy at Sandy Beach, near Cato Point, Matinicus I. - so if researching in that corner, look sharp for a sandbar lurking just under the water, waiting to upend tired and thirsty sailors.
Secretary Steve Winship, publisher of TheNew England Guide, served this summer on the Boston steering committee for this year's "Discover America International Pow Wow," a name which just possibly might have been borrowed from the College. Pow Wow brings together U.S. and international tourism folk and is sponsored jointly by the U.S. Travel Service, U.S. government, and Discover America Travel Organizations, Inc., which supplied the Magazine with picture and release.
