With football season in full swing, I'm sure a lot of you are making plans for the Harvard-Dartmouth Game on October 25. I just received a note from Chuck Myserian detailing the plans for the '54 activities before and after the game. Chuck writes as follows: "Get together before the game and picnic on the grass on the grass in the general area between Watson Hockey Rink, and the Palmer-Dixon Tennis Courts. This is a BYOL (bring your own lunch) or purchase same from the concessions close by.

"For after the game a joint committee of the Classes of '52, '53, and '54 has planned a real fine evening at the Harvard Club. Cash bar cocktail party from 4:30 to 6 (in reality the bar will stay open all evening). From 6 to 8:15 p.m. a sumptuous buffet will be served. The price of $10.00 per person includes tax and tip as well as the facilities of the Harvard Club including pool tables and TV room for your children. The Harvard Club of Boston is located at 374 Commonwealth Avenue with ample parking behind the Harvard Club and the Sommerset Hotel. This is a great no-hassle way to enjoy the fellowship of friends for cocktails and dinner. By the way, children are definitely welcome for the dinner. Send your reservation and check for $10 per person before October 18 to Mr Frederick J. England Jr., '53, c/o Hastings-Tapley Insurance Agency, Inc., 271 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02141 (617-876-7510)."

This is always a great weekend, and it sounds as if the plans for this year are better than ever.

The summer has brought promotions to a number of our classmates. Marsh and McLennan Companies has announced the election of Robert Clements as a senior vice president. Marsh and McLennan, Inc. is an international insurance brokerage firm. Bob was recently named national service officer for Casualty Insurance. Previously a senior vice president and director of Marsh and McLennan, Ltd., the company's Canadian organization, Bob specialized in captive insurance companies and international insurance coverages and was responsible for marketing and major accounts. He has been with Marsh and McLennan in Canada since 1959. He and his wife Marilyn have four children and will be living in the New York area.

The Quaker Oats Company announced the appointment of Ed Hayes as vice president, International Grocery Products. Ed retains the title of managing director of Quaker Oats, Ltd., a Quaker subsidiary headquartered in the United Kingdom, and he continues to have full responsibility for that business. Ed has been with Quaker since positions with General Mills, Inc. Ed has led a busy life in the United Kingdom, where he is a council member of the Federation of Food Manufacturers and Industrial Governor of the British Institute of Nutrition. He also serves on the executive committees of the Pet Foods Manufacturers Association and the Association of Cereal Manufacturers. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a member of the Anglo-American Chamber of Commerce, London. Ed, his wife, and three children reside in Berkshire, in the United Kingdom.

Norm Veasey has added to his long list of accomplishments the election to the board of trustees of the University of Delaware, Norm, who is a managing partner of the Richards, Layton & Finger law firm in Wilmington, has served as a State Deputy Attorney General and Chief Deputy Attorney General. He is chairman of the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners and the Supreme Court Rules Committee. He also chaired the Corporation Law Committee of the Delaware Bar Association and the Governor's Task Force on Reorganization of the Executive Branch of Government. He co-chaired the Governor's Franchise Tax Study Committee and the Governor's Committee on Revision of Criminal Laws. It is obvious that his appointment is richly deserved. Norm and wife Suzanne have four children and live in Centerville, Del. We congratulate Norm not only on his appointment but on his years of giving his services to his community.

State Mutual Life Assurance Company of America announced the appointment of NormRoss as director of Purchasing and Communications Services. Norm has been with State Mutual since 1954, following a career that has brought him into many areas of company activity. Norm and his family continue to live in Framingham, Massachusetts, an easy commute to Memorial Field. It is great to report all the news of the achievements of so many of our class members. To this list of achievements must be added the great performance of George Voss and his Assistant Class Agents in producing the Green Derby Award for the Class of 1954 for the first time in my memory. George's leadership must be considered to have been the major contributing factor to the Class's outstanding Alumni Fund performance. Thanks to George the whole Class can be congratulated on its success.
