We are all indebted to Irving Levitas for his excellent article in the May issue of this magazine on the value of exercise in reducing the danger from heart attacks. There is a natural tendency to cut down physical activity as we move along in our upper sixties; his piece is a reminder that physical endurance can still be important.

Dud Orr, who served five years as president of the New Hampshire Historical Society, has just relinquished the post to Richard Upton '35. Dud has been a member of the society since 1941 and has served as treasurer and vice president. He is now serving as a trustee.

Wat Spangler has recently moved from Wilmington, N.C., to 1761 Haverhill Drive, Deltona, Fla., 32763. He writes:

"While we were in Florida looking for a place to live, I recalled that Bob Leigh was a resident of Deland and in the real estate business, which happened to be our interest of the moment. As a result we spent a delightful day together, updating ourselves on the events of the past 46 years. . . From all reports, all seems well in the affairs of the Class. Have seen only one classmate in three years in Wilmington but I am sure that this will change upon our move."

In a letter to a less than happy classmate. Jack Hubbard commented on a current issue:

"As far as coeducation goes, I know there is a lot of disagreement by people (including my Vassar wife) but from what I have been able to learn first-hand, you are just not going to attract the better boys from the secondary schools and transfers unless there is coeducation at Dartmouth. We had two boys and two girls from the Glee Club here at the house this spring and believe me they are terrific! Also at Hanover it's the girls that are insisting that Dartmouth be kept Dartmouth even though they are here."

So that's the latest news from youse guys. Some older news showed up when I was cleaning out an old file - a letter dated October 5, 1929, from Bob Monahan that I received in Paris:

"The fortnight in New Hampshire was a real vacation. A few of the stunts I was able to pull were: overnight atop Carter Dome fire tower with a full moon, clear sky, white frost, 18 above, moderate breeze. Then a visit to my camp-site in Passaconaway. Climbed Moosilauke with Dick Sanders on the latter's 95th ascent. Overnight at Great Bear Cabin. Climbed to Lonesome Lake in the dark and overnight there with Sam Alien '30. First overnight guest at the new A.M.C. hut at Eagle Lake on Mt. Lafayette. I never slept in the same house a second night so you can imagine the ground I was able to cover and the old Ford perfumed nobly."

The old Ford kept on performing nobly; my brother Alex (Harvard '27) bought it from Bob and rolled it out to Indiana, where it lasted quite a while longer.
