At last fall's meeting of the class executive committee, it was decided to have the committee's 1975 Meeting at Hanover the Brown football weekend, October 17-19. It was suggested that the committee plan a minireunion over the weekend in the hopes of at- tracting as many classmates as possible. The preliminary schedule for the weekend calls for a Friday night cocktail party with the Class of '59, followed by the freshman bonfire and a buffet dinner at the Norwich Inn. Saturday morning's agenda calls for two one-hour panels, probably headed by Ralph Manuel and Carol Brewster, followed by lunch at Dave Bradley's with beer supplied, the game and hopefully a victory, and then cocktails and dinner at the Norwich Inn. The tentative agenda looks attractive and we hope that many of you will be able to attend.
Michael Growney and wife Betsy were recently in the Tampa area and had the opportunity to visit with Ernie and Libby Drosdick. Mike is vice president, secretary and general counsel of Spencer Trask and Company, Inc., and was elected to the board of directors last Summer. Mike has been with Spencer Trask for the last six years. The Growneys have five sons ranging from 8 to 18. Mike is active in community affairs, serves as acting police justice in his home town of Upper Nyack, N.Y., is on the vestry of Grace Church in Nyack and is on the executive boar.d of the Boy Scouts in Rockland County.
Walt and Jane Yusen and children returned in March from leading a group of 43 New England Alumni to Hawaii for a week's vacation on Oahu. Among the '58s who made the trip were Dean Ralph Manuel and wife Sally and Jack andMargie Chapman. Jack is vice president of marketing for American Shoe Machinery Company in Wakefield, Mass. One of the highlights of the trip was a joint meeting with the Dartmouth Club of Hawaii at Honolulu's Pacific Club. Bill Bahrenburg, a vice president of Dean Witter in the islands, is president of the Hawaii Alumni Club. Paul Wysard introduced Ralph as the evening's main attraction. Ralph managed to convince Paul to forego referring to some old war stories about Ralph's naval tour in Hawaii.
Paul is business manager of the Punahoa school where he previously taught. Walt reports that seeing Paul is a bit discouraging for some of us balding or graying pot-bellied types. Paul apparently looks like he just graduated; it must be that good island living.
Ralph did his usual superb job in addressing the group and after dinner, the '58s and some others were beautifully entertained by Bill and Sue Bahrenburg at their lovely home on the 7th Fairway of the Waialea Country Club, which is the site of the Hawaiian Open. Apparently Bill and Paul are golf rivals and it was difficult to discern who outplays the other.
Walt reports that everyone really enjoyed the beautiful environment and way of life in the islands and that several of the '58s travelled extensively throughout the island chain. We understand that the snorkling at Haunama Bay is fabulous, the restaurants exciting, and the Mai Tais with fresh pineapple spears designed to put everybody in a festive frame of mind.
John Gundy is teaching and practising pediatrics at the Dartmouth Medical School and ran into Walt while visiting in Boston. MelAlperin is spending a lot of time on the ski slopes and reports are that he is becoming a super skier.
Keep the news and reports coming.
