June 1975 WILLIAM J. MONTGOMERY, JOHN P. BARCLAY JR.

It was raining like the devil the night of April 25 in Fairfield, County, Conn., but it didn't stop a capacity crowd from joining President John Kemeny and Charlie Hood '51 for cocktails, dinner and a most interesting evening. Several members of the Class made it to the dinner including Chev Haskell, Bart Lombardi, SteveMandel, and Roger Phillips. Chev Haskell is still with IBM and reports he has been spending most of his time lately on legal matters for the company. We don't have attendance figures on President Kemeny's other dinners but we understand the turnout was equally strong.

The following weekend was the annual class officers get-together in Hanover and it, too, was a record turnout. John Rosenwald managed to get almost his entire crew there for some important discussions and plans. His full report will come to the Class in the newsletter. Steve andLorraine Parkhurst drove up from Boston on Friday to join John and your secretary for the opening sessions. Frank and Drewry Logan have become more or less ex-officio members of the team and Frank has really been doing a great job for the Class since his return to Hanover. So, it was a pleasure to have them join the group as well. Saturday morning Sam Wallis and his father drove up from Boston to join the meeting and Bill Breed drove over from Pine Drive for breakfast with the clan. Therefore, we got a lot done and much progress was made on new class programs.

Bill Breed reported he has made good progress as social chairman on fall activities both in Hanover and in Boston. Again, full details will come in the newsletter, but the key weekends are October 11 (Brown) and 18 (Penn) in Hanover and October 25 (Harvard) in Boston. Make sure to mark your calendar now.

This report will reach you just before the end of this year's Alumni Fund drive and I hope you will forgive me if I use this space to make an earnest plea for an extra effort on behalf of the College and the Class. Jack Barclay, our class agent, and his crew of assistant agents have a tremendous job cut out for them in motivating members of the Class in this year of serious recession coupled with a record Fund goal.

If you have had an opportunity to read President Kemeny's five year report in the May issue of this Magazine or if you have had an opportunity to visit Hanover (or talk with someone who has) you will be well aware of the progress made by the College. I don't mean to sound like a house shill and, in fact, this is not a sponsored commercial, but I urge each of you to think again about your support before the June 30 deadline. If you have already made your contribution, and hopefully you have, please give it one more thought. Was it the best you can do or, from habit, was it "about the same as last year?" If you feel you can make another effort, please do so. You don't need a form, just send your added contribution along.

On the other hand, if you are a last minute giver, then I would urge you to seriously consider the most reasonable increase in your contribution you feel you can make. I'm not talking about taking out a second mortgage on the homestead (save that for our 25th), but I am talking about serious extra thought before sending your gift.

Now, if you haven't already left us for more interesting reading, there is that category of non-givers. If you are in that category and you are still reading this there would appear to be some inconsistency. No, don't stop reading, start giving. Certainly your reasons for not giving may have been important to you, but are they still valid? Is it possible to change your plans this year to make your presence known? End of speech. My apologies, but the subject is important.

Finally, have a most enjoyable summer.
