XXXVth REUNION, June 13-15, 1977
Reunion chairman Dutch Cotton reports, as a supplement to news in the last notes and the news letter, that the lobster-and-other-goodies clambake, on the general pattern of that at the 30th, will definitely be held and he hopes '42 and '43 will join in. A reunion committee is to be announced as well as a big list of classmates who will urge others to attend. Like the 30th, dorms will be open Sunday, June 12, for early arrivals to enjoy an impromptu day in Hanover, attitude adjustment and dinner.
News received over the last few months and summer lull is necessarily delayed, but here are a few shorts: "Am working in mental health as an administrator, after retirement from the Army in '72. Wife Ginny has found a place to help others in social justice - mostly within the Catholic Church system. We're both active in charismatic prayer meetings. Four children are through college - two to go." ... DickJachens. "After 30 years in publishing, in the sales end, I'm still going strong ... aided in all ways by super wife Florence, who has been a great partner for 28 years. Son Greg ('71) has been in the Far East and went to Europe in the banking end of American Express. Daughter Karen (Bowdoin '73) is at Aetna Life. I see a lot of Rich Fisher, who personifies what Dartmouth is all about - he does it all for the college." ... Ed Fell.
"All in all, no complaints - three married daughters (a housewife with two sons, a soap opera star, and a bride of a year) - and my tennis has to improve!" ... Bill Blanchard. From Harry Maxwell: "At age 57 am one of the youngest members of the University Club of Claremont, Cal. The average age is 74 - we recently inducted a 28- year-old and another 83 - the two average out to my total."
Lou Young has sent out the Class dues, and reminds us that they cover the ALUMNIMAGAZINE subscriptions; the on-going class-project, "Is There Life After Dartmouth?"; careers counseling for undergraduates; and rare book purchases for the College library system. "Barbara and I have been playing quite a bit of tennis, now finishing up golf, and a good season of paddle tennis lies ahead. Best to all." DocSpillane: "Still working my way through colleges."

The president of the organization formed to put on that absolute smash hit, Operation Sail, on the Atlantic Coast, was Alex Salm, of New York ... Dick Hill has been named a trustee of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts ... our neighbors down the road, dramatists, conver-sationalists and agriculturists extraordinary, Harry and Penny Butterworth, dropped in and left a luscious pound of butter produced by their churn ... Bob and Barbara Harvey "racing to and from Block Island, where we are building a house." Bob and Joan Frondorf's son Rick, the third to graduate from Dartmouth, received his AB in June.
In case you missed the September Bulletin issued by the College administration, there is a clearly-stated summary of proposals and discussions concerning changes in admission policy under consideration. If you missed that Bulletin and coverage of an issue which has generated much heat, please write me for a photocopy. All in all, it does not appear that earlier fears of radical changes are justified.
Autumnal picnickers (from left) LouYoung, Howie Wilson, Bruce Friedlich, and Frank Simpson, all '41ers, gather at apre-game Hanover tailgate party.
