The Class of 1955 should be very proud of its participation in alumni affairs. The new directory was published recently listing 26 classmates (not including the class executive committee). We have six presidents of local clubs; Gus Aberle, Miami, Bob Garver, Boston, Mike Fletcher, Springfield, Mass., Jud Hale, Keene, N.H., Harry Weil, Pittsburgh, and Steve Little, Providence. Swifty Lawrence, Jim Nelsen, and Don Hummel are members of the Alumni Council of which Swifty is VP.

We also have five secretaries of local clubs; Nels Jones, Springfield, Bob Comer, Bergen Co., N.J., Gerald Levy, Charlotte, N.C., BobPerkins, Australia, and Ron Murphy, Switzerland. One of the most interesting and challenging jobs in the local clubs is that of job placement chairman. Two Daves, Oberlander and Miller, serve in this capacity for Dallas and Cincinnatti respectively.

Milo White serves as liaison officer for Ann Arbor and John Levitas in the same capacity for Utica. John Dell Isola and Steve Wilson are academic affairs officers for Rochester, N.H. and Utica, N.Y. respectively. Ron Campion is a member of the Athletic Council. Finally, we have three men performing the most time consuming job of all, that of district enrollment chairman. Fred Lione is responsible for southwest Connecticut, Ken Lundstrom for the state of Delaware and Charlie Greenberg for the Long Beach, Calif., area.

Thanks to the computerized message placed by John Demas on the class dues notice there are quite a few news items of short duration. Dick Dwyer is a foreign service officer with the State Department. He is stationed in Central Africa where he is "grappling with perennial problems of how best to spend U.S. taxpayers' funds to help people stricken by drought, boating on the Chari River among the resident family of hippo which lives not far from our house, and now, welcoming, the winter weather - seldom over 95 degrees."

Roy Nyren, who is a minister in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was elected to the board of directors of the National Academy of Parish Clergy. This group is dedicated to raising professional standards through continuing education and peer group monitoring.

Bob Gregg lives in Frankfurt, Germany where he is an importer of lighting fixtures. However, he also runs a retail store in Vienna, Austria, about which he is rhapsodic. "The atmosphere of the city and the music that seems to hover over the city like a cloud. The store is about 100 yards from the opera so it's easy to make a choice in the evening between the opera or a cup of coffee at a nearby cafe."

Frank Chase has moved to Ellicott City, Md. He will be responsible for the Glee Club appearance in Baltimore next month. He would like to have any tips from one of you with experience in this area.

My neighbor Don Hummel performed a remarkable feat on the golf course last fall. He played in a tournament which was part of his company (Northern Trust Bank) picnic. On a course which is fairly short but definitely not easy, he scored a gross of 61. Through a clandestine plot unbeknownst to Don, I got a copy of a letter from the President of the Chicago District Golf Association. "This not only established a new course record but is the lowest score ever reported by an amateur on a standard length course in the Chicago area."
