Back in early February there was a mini-reunion in New York. Dick Greene did an outstanding job of organizing the evening which ineluded dinner at the Scandia Restaurant and then watching Len Gochman in the first-rate, off-Broadway production of Tuscaloosa's Calling Me. Len's performance was critically reported to be excellent; with the physical workout he gets in the show he was enviously reported to be in better shape than the rest of us. The eaters, drinkers, watchers, and socializers included: Burt and Judy Dorset, Dave and Jeanne Replogle, Hilton and Mildred Rosen, Dick and Joan Greene, Ron and Liliane Lazar, Bob and Linda Douglass, Phil and Nancy Beekman, By and Laura Menides, Fred and Molly Carlton, Curt and Judy Bury, Ted and Paula Merritt, Ollie and Judy Conover, Jack and Lu Morris, Gus and Mabel Allen, Bud Friedman and a date, Bill and Jan Smith, Phil and Helga Fast, Bill and Jean Vitalis, Jack and Dezija Sargent, and Maurice and Helen Schoenfleld. It was a fine evening and we plan to have more of these.
The February heat wave did not overlook the Rockies. Edie and I enjoyed a week of 50° temperature and sweater skiing in Aspen. They take incredibly good care of the slopes and the sliding was excellent. We saw Ingeborg andBruce Gilmore and Chuck Reilly but missed Polly and Jack Koerner by a few days.
Brock Brower wrote an excellent article about Teddy Kennedy for the February issue of Esquire. His basic conclusion is that Kennedy doesn't really want to run; therefore, he should not be made to run. Let it be.
Warren Cassidy's son continues to burn up the indoor track season for the Big Green. His event, the triple jump. He had an appendectomy earlier in the season but has had a rapid recovery.
Anson and Patti Mark were in Sun Valley for the 11th Annual Sun Valley Ski Club Reunion. As usual, Dick Durrance was the big winner.

Tom Wilson addressed the Grocery Manufacturers' Representatives of New England in March. His subject was the consumer view of Universal Product Code. Those are the parallel vertical lines you see on all supermarket packages that are leading toward complete automatic checking out. Tom continues as a director of McKinsey & Co. which is a top management consulting company head-quartered in New York.
"Mr. Nice Guy and Mr. Tough Cookie. Together again." That headline and a full page photo of Bill Beutel and Roger Grimsby announced that the great combination is back together again on the 6 p.m. Eyewitness News for New York Channel 7. They certainly are a contrast in styles and personalities. Bill is easy, relaxed and low-key. Roger, terse and crisp and crackling.
That's it for this month.
